I came in for a recommendation for a therapist for my depression and eating disorder. She dismissed my claims of having an eating disorder despite me telling her I was eating one to zero meals a day. In fact, Dr. McCallum looked at my weight and recommended I lose weight and never drink alcohol. Eating disorder fuel. As for my depression, she kept interrupting asking why I was depressed even though I repeatedly told her I didn’t know (why I needed a therapist). So she asked when it started. I told her middle school and she said “what happened to you in middle school?” When I said something like “oh just the general horrors of being a middle schooler, nothing happened,” she said “that’s not true. Middle schoolers are not depressed. I have a middle schooler. He’s not depressed. So what’s wrong with you?” I was mortified. What a shameful experience to muster up the courage to ask for help and be met with hostility and dismissive remarks. If you’re looking for compassion, look elsewhere.

Dr. McCallum is the best doctor I've had the pleasure of working with in more than 10 years! She listens, retains, cares and most of all is helpful and will make referrals. If she can't provide the treatment she will find someone who can! Dr. McCallum is responsive, positive, informative, reliable and makes visiting the doctor a nice experience! Go Dr. McCallum!
