Awesome man saved my life plenty
Dr. Cuyler saved my son's life in 2013. Great surgeon!
Dr. James Cuyler is horrible. Back in 2010 he MISDIAGNOSED my son that had Thyroid cancer, he told me that my son has " vocal cord paralysis" "give it 6 month to a year and it will resolve". All this and he checked him twice because he did not have the scope at his clinic at st. Vin. so he got paid for two consultation visits. He said that it will resolve or I can operate, all this without any imaging. I decided to wait r 1 year, then when I was ready to see him after 1 year I called and confronted him saying that "If I schedule a visit I need a definite plan to remedy my son's issues otherwise I need to go to another doctor; he said I can give you the name of another doctor and he did (Dr. James Thomas who was AMAZING).I went to the new ENT Dr. Thomas, after he checked him he ordered a $100 ultrasound then he called and said your son has a 5 CM TUMOR on his Thyroid. It grew to 5 cm because stupid dr Cuyler recommendation was :wait 6 months to a year and it will resolve" . Well in that 6 month to a year we could have saved at least one Thyroid but my son lost both because of the size of the tumor. My son lost both of his thyroids and is still in treatment after two 5 hour surgeries. My son was lucky as the cancer was not the worse kind but we still had to take both Thyroids out.If you love your kids don't take them to Dr. James Cuyler as he is in it for the money. He is not nice or caring; when I went to talk to him about his screw up at his NW office he would not come out and face me, he did not have the decency to face me.I actually wanted to sue him but I could not find a lawyer that would take the case because my son's type of cancer was not life threatening?? What a joke; the lawyers had wanted that my son has a terminal cancer so they take the case, they told me honestly that there is no benefit for them to take the case.Every time I think of how careless Dr. Cuyler was I get very angry, and BTW, this guy dr. cuyler has some issues from the way he was behaving?? He did not strike me as a normal person.Writing this review makes me get less than even with him but I should have written it long time ago.A note to the readers and Dr James Cuyler so you know this is not a fake review The last name of the patient in question is : SHAER back in 2010.
I just wrote a detailed review on him on google but in brief he misdiagnosed my son who had thyroid cancer saying it was vocal cord paralysis and it will resolve in 6 months to a year. I waited a year and my sons tumor was 5 cm. I had another doctor see my son after a year and he told me about the cancer and that we do a biopsy right away. When I went to talk to Dr. Cuyler he wouldn’t face me he let his receptionist talk to me. He is a terrible human being.
He is the absolute most caring pediatric surgeon I have ever met and helped my daughter. I recamend Dr. Cuyler if your child needs an ENT!! Thank you Dr. Cuyler for everything!!
WOULDNT LET HIM TREAT MY DOG
We had a bad experience with Dr. Cuyler. He removed wax from my daughters ear using a scraping tool. Aggressive pressure was applied, therefore a layer of skin was removed from her ear canal causing a fair amount of bleeding. A chunk of wax remained, he twisted a tissue and pushed the chunk further into her ear canal where it lodged next to her ear drum. This compromised her hearing for several weeks. Her bed pillow had three quartersized spots of blood the next morning.
We have seen Dr Cuyler for the past several years with my special needs daughter. He is thorough, patient, considerate, and very good at what he does. He is not aggressive and does not rush to surgery, but does weigh all options carefully. I highly recommend him to everyone, and really will be saddened the day he retires. The only drawback is his Kearney office has only two wheelchair parking spaces and we cannot ever get access to unload our lift van.
One of the worst ENT Drs to assess and treat tongue tie. First, he openly states posterior tongue does doesnt exist even though medical research contradicts his opinion. Rather than be objective he dismisses it. When he does attempt to perform a frenotomy out of frustration he only cuts enough tissue to make your baby bleed. Botched every Time!!! His office staff is rude and does not fulfill records request after multiple requests. When he evaluated my daughter who had chronic ear infections he completed dismissed her symptoms and told me my pediatrician and first ENT were wrong. After getting a 3rd opinion from the Dean and top ENT at OHSU my instincts were correct .......he sucks!!!! OHSU Dr confirmed Dr Cuylers assessment was incorrect and wrong. Stay away, especially for tongue tie.
Scheduler, therapist, and manager have very poor manners. I love being put on hold for more than 12 minutes each time you call. They play that game, the doctor had an emergency surgery, but dont tell you...I assume you are just to read their minds and guess this is the reason you wait for an hour just to be turned away. Besides, the appointment wasnt even on their schedule (imagine that), lost the referral (do you see a pattern here), and took 3 months to schedule it since referral had to be sent to them again. Very unimpressed, no manners, rude, unorganized, no sympathy, not helpful, cannot transfer without hanging up on you after putting you on hold several times for over 12 minutes, and the list goes on. I dont even want to give them a star. Good luck people!
The service was streamlined and curteous.
I brough both my girls to see Dr. Cuyler on our pediatricians recommendation. We had no problems with waiting times and were promptly seen at our appointed time. I read the review about the folks having to wait after a surgery and we have been in three times now for different kids (had to have tubes put in) and have not experienced that. In addition, it sounds like something may have gone wrong at the surgery he was at and I personally give him two thumbs up for sticking with the patient that was having surgery if they needed the extra time. Things happen and doctors need to prioritize. My oldest is now three and is having some hearing problems and we will be seeing Dr. Cuyler again. He has been great.
I was told by many different doctors that Dr. Cuyler was the best doctor for my son to see. My son has seen Dr. Cuyler for four different procedures and he has always been kind, professional and thoughtful.
