I am disappointed with the waiting time after they say you are being admitted my husband and I got here at 6pm didn’t get seen until 10:30 then they tells him he has to stay at 12:30 and it is now 5am and we are still not in a room yet I don’t get how long it would take to find a empty room if he has already signed papers saying he was being admitted
It’s unfortunate that we had the experience that we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful in the ED, however, there was no call bell in the room that my dad was in. I had to tell for help due to an event that he was having. It’s concerning for those that may not have family with them for support.Once transported to his floor, we were told that we would be updated in the morning on his surgery time. We were told at 8am that his surgery was scheduled for 10am and then turned away when we arrived since that wasn’t accurate. We were then told 3pm, so we were in route to the hospital at 11:30am and received a call from my father that they were taking him to surgery. No call, no update to his family from anyone at the hospital. The surgeon, anesthesiologist, RNs all blamed those that make the OR schedule. No one took responsibility for the lack of communication for a patient who had a language barrier and is hard of hearing. We checked in at 11:45am and were told to wait in the Lenfest building and that 2 of us would be allowed . We walked to the Lenfest building to be told that one of us had to leave. We were told that both of us would go back and see him in recovery, which I found odd considering COVID restrictions, but when speaking to the surgeon as he updated us, I was informed that we would never be allowed in recovery. A lot of hands in the pot and very few are on the same page. In all my years in working on healthcare and coordinating care for patients, I’ve never had this type of experience. AMH, think about the families and patients, especially given the restrictions with COVID which are necessary. Clear and consistent communication is even more important. No family member should be taken to the OR without a phone call to update the family in cases that are non- life threatening and to ask if there are any questions or concerns.
Currently waiting for 3 hours, this is unacceptable. Do not go to emergency, you can die faster at this rate. Staff is nice but there is so many people. Not a covid ready place.
I was ready to take off AMA after my surgery a I had an eye problem while at this hospital and NOBODY would listen. Than I was informed the eye doctor was called several times. Fortunately, a new eye doctor was summoned and I was seen that night. He, the eye specialist Dr Francis Clark found I had herpes disease of my eye. The care by him moving forward was excellent, and i have ,my vision back. The hospital could also learn from Dr Clark office how to take serious and very precise safe guards for Covid protection assurances . Dr Clark is on top of his game. Not so much the hospital.
I must say I was extremely disappointed during a late 2020 stay my husband had at Abington. I had previously always held Abington in high regards, but no longer. I felt the medical staff lacked good communication, one specialty did not know what the other was doing. We constantly had to be the go between with conflicting treatment plans. It appeared no one looked at a chart or records before entering the room. Nursing staff was fair, certainly not excellent, this coming from a nurse of 40 yrs and still working! At one point we requested to s/w nursing supervisor and she was useless. I left THREE messages for patient advocate with NO return call. I also requested a call on my Press/Gainey review with no reply. You can do better Abington.
I was in there early February. The people who work there couldn't have been more professional. Every person I dealt with was nice and helpful. What a great place to be a patient.
My 23 year old Granddaughter fighting bad breathing problems from Covid, who didn't want to go to the hospital, went last night because her breathing became so bad. They told her to sit Anywhere, even though she had an active Covid case, left after hearing from other patients that they already been there 6 hours with no end in sight. She left and is still suffering. No Wonder it is still spreading so much, why won't you have separate waiting area for Covid
I held up 2 days for an eye doctor to see me during my hospital stay here last week. , and he never appeared up. Thankfully, Dr Francis Clark was I guess on backup and came inside an hour of being called. He diagmnosed me with eye shingles and cellulitis. Inside 2 days of iv treatmemnt I was much progressed and now 90% improved. I was goin to give zero Stars, but Dr Clark was an amzing, caring physician, thus 5 Stars
It’s very long waiting time. You never know when an emergency patient get service. Unbelievable.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
