List of Brian P Murphy's Reviews
I have never had a doctor tap his watch abd say, "get to the bottom line." He showed no compassion but plenty of arrogance.
I had a 3mm kidney stone in May which was my first kidney stone. I had a few virtual visits and in each virtual visit he wanted to schedule surgery. He put me on the med (can't remember the same) that widens your ureter to pass the stone for only 4 days. The he said it won't pass and I need surgery. He scheduled the surgery without giving me an option and the morning of surgery I passed the stone on my own after visiting a different doctor and getting back on the medicine to widen my ureter. The other doctor said I wouldn't need surgery. He was ready to cut my open the same day I discovered it. HORRIBLE care. I forced them to give me an ultrasound before the surgery to make sure I didn't have the stone because he was going to do the surgery regardless of me saying I passed it. Do not go to him. Go see ANY other doctor.
Superb surgeon and very accommodating. Takes all the time you need to fully understand your symptoms and surgical procedures. And, he is obviously quite knowledgeable....and a great sense of humor. I always feel relieved after speaking with him and especially after undergoing a surgical procedure (for kidney stones).
Did a horrible job on my husband’s prostatectomy. As a result we have changed doctors!
We have been going to Dr. Murphy for the past 3 years. and I have found him to be extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and patient. He helped us with my husband's epilepsy. Best doctor that we have had to in the past 20 years.
My experience with this doctor has been very stressful. I had an oblique fracture on the shaft of the fourth metacarpal. Surgery was my only option if I wanted to keep from losing range of motion. Brian Murphy on my initial appointment was very brief and doesn’t explain the process very well. He forgot to prescribe me my pain medications and I had to call his office back and get it situated. His PA that works alongside of him prescribed them for me. I figured let’s just go through surgery and get the process moving along quicker because I didn’t want to waste time. Post surgery my hand was in a lot of pain and I was told to call the office if I had any discomfort... I called the office and got a message back saying that I need to wait until my post op appointment which was after Christmas. They said the doc told me to take Aleve and just ice my hand. So I did and I waited until my post op appointment. Post op which was a week after surgery he takes my temporary wrap off and says that he wants to put an unstable brace on my hand. I expressed that it had only been a week and it doesn’t feel stable it’s still in a lot of pain and it was still swollen. I asked, What if I hit my hand? His exact words were “ I think that’s all just mental” he said that it wouldn’t happen. And that I need to start moving my hand right away. But yet he contradicts himself by saying it takes bones 6 weeks to heal. So you’re telling me that it’s not necessary to stabilize your hand until it heals? He told me that he wanted me to do my own physical therapy on my hand? Doesn’t tell me how or what to do. And tells me that we’ll see later down the line if you need physical therapy? Are you kidding me? I had to aggressively ask for physical therapy before he even agreed to give it to me. Then when the nurse came in to put the splint on my hand I expressed that my hand just doesn’t feel stable and that it had only been one week she was concerned and asked the doctor what to do. At this point dr Murphy was irritable and abruptly came in to the office sat down and explained was he had already previously explained. I told him again that my fingers are completely exposed and that a hand brace is not going to give it stability. So he took to adhesive bands and tied my fingers together and said well that should help and handed me the brace and told me to put it on myself. I asked if the nurse was going to put it on and he said it’s pretty easy and I can do it myself. Wow I have never dealt with such an inconsiderate doctor. At that point I was just livid but didn’t make a scene. I have contacted the supervisor and will be reporting the incident.
Waited 45 minutes then his nurse was rude and never apologized. They don't care about your time at all!
First of all, I don't understand why Dr. Murphy's score has 4 stars. He is a top notch Doctor to me. He is quick and gets to the point of your visit, especially when one is in pain. The hospital staff also addressed a chroni issue before I was put under anesthesia. My total experience was excellent.
I do not have any rating for Dr. Murphy, because I was expecting to see him, but he didn't show up. I was not informed when I made appointment that his assistant would see me. When I arrived his office on time (1:30), another patient arrived there at the same time. I was surprised that his appointment was only 10 minutes later than mine (1:40). When Dr. Murphy's assistant entered the room, he didn't explain anything, as if my appointment was made for seeing him. As a patient, I researched online and decided to select Dr. Murphy for his good review, but I don't think my rights were respected. By the way, nothing personal to his assistant, probably he is a good guy. Anyway, this review is not about Dr. Murphy, but his office, about this arrangement. I was disappointed.
Misdiagnosed my lyme dz as MS! If you put someone through the pain and suffering of a spinal tap, at least run a lyme PCR on it. Could have saved me from so much further pain and suffering.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
