Started my bariatric journey just under a year ago. The program/process is so supportive and amazing - if you follow it and are committed - there will be nothing but success for you. I lost 90 lbs before my surgery and that process taught me everything I needed to know to ensure that post surgery would be an equally positive experience for me. Current loss is 129 lbs (surgery in April 2022) and I've never felt better!!! I love this team!

Dr. El Chaar and all his staff are such a welcoming bunch. They all made me feel comfortable and at ease. I had a hiatal hernia that needed to be repaired. Dr. El Chaar takes his time with you and goes over everything and makes sure that you leave without any questions. I appreciate his dedication and his compassion for his patients!!

I found my dream HUSBAND. When I say this surgery was seamless. Trust me when I tell you it was seamless as possible after the surgery I honestly did not realise that I even had surgery aside from the incisions everything was amazing. I came to Dr El Chaar after 3 years of chronic pain due to ulcers and 2 previous failed revisions after Roux en y surgery. He came highly recommended as a surgeon who took on complicated cases successfully. I am about 2 hours away, but it was worth the travel for every appointment . He explained every step of the procedure and was honest with projected outcomes. I ended up having my pouch completely removed and rebuilt. I lost a pretty big portion of small bowel, and had a truncal vagotomy along with two perforated hernia repairs. The surgery was about 4 hours. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how successful the surgery was and the quality of life I was able to regain. Even as soon as 10 days later I had no pain, and felt completely renewed. I highly recommend seeking Dr El Chaar out if you are having complications. He changed my life!!

I had my RNY 13 years ago by another doctor. A few years later I started having symptoms of GERD, esophageal spasms and pain that would come and go anywhere from a few days to a few months. I've seen many different doctors, had multiple tests done, placed on several different medications to help mask the pain and symptoms. Eventually the symptoms would return. I decided to see Dr. El Chaar, finally a doctor actually listened! He preformed some of the same tests other doctors have preformed but since this is his specialty he recognized the causes of my on going pain and symptoms. 3 weeks ago I went into surgery and he repaired two ulcers, a hiatal hernia, and performed a revision. I was prepared to be in excruciating pain for at least 2 or more weeks post op. At around day 7, I was only taking Tylenol once a day. I haven't had to take any pain medications since day 10. So far I haven't had any of the symptoms I had for all of those years. I am so thankful I went to meet Dr. El Chaar.

Dr. el Chaar is a fantastic surgeon. I had gastric bypass and developed an ulcer and strictures. Dr El Chaar performed a revision and I feel fantastic. This surgeon cares about his patients and makes you feel like a person and not a number. I would highly recommend Dr El Chaar and St Luke’s if you are considering weight loss surgery.
