In my opinion Dr. O'Brien has a very poor bedside manner. I won't return, ever, to this doctor.
If you are looking for a doctor with a good bedside manner, look elsewhere. The doctor may be a fine surgeon, but visits feel extremely rushed. Though she and her assistants encourage you to ask questions (before and after cataract surgery) when you do ask questions (I refrained from doing so eventually) the answers are rushed, unclear or condescending. They are answered in a way that dissuades you from asking more. One assistant used the word "Obviously" when answering my questions on the phone about the different lens types, as if to infer that my question was a needless one. If it were so obvious to me, I would not have asked! During the six visits (at the least) made for the purpose of having my cataracts removed, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt on an assembly line where employees are paid by the number of items they fix, so they are rushing to get as many done in as little a time as possible. You get the picture. Having said that, maybe that is the way it is everywhere. I have been lucky to not have had any surgery before now. I think the surgery turned out well (I will know better in a few more weeks).
Dr. O'Brien is a good surgeon. I had to wait a long time to see her (90 minutes) and then saw her for 3 minutes. She invites you to ask questions in a way that is so rushed that one does not ask any. She just does not have the time. There is often a line at the front desk. Today there were at least 5 people waiting the whole time I was seated there in the waiting room. People with walking sticks, oxygen, walkers. People who had the same time appt as me, but who arrived later and signed in later than me, were seen before I was seen. Not a satisfying experience.
Dr O'Brien is an excellent Dr. She is very pleasant, very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience. Asks if you have any questions and will happily answer them. I had an issue with one of my eyes after cataract surgery I called she called me back told me she what she thought it was gave me a recommendation to use eye drops for dry eyes and she was right. It helped my issue. I would and do highly recommend her.
My cataract surgery, this past March, was so well done by staff and Dr Marnie OBrien that I have been raving about it since. I was so well taken care of and I am very happy with the results!! Thank you to Dr Marnie OBrien and the entire staff.
Established patient experiencing blurry vision. Still trying to get an appointment. No one answers the phone or responds to online requests for an appointment!!! Been calling for months! Very frustrated
Doctor Obrian is a great doctor but the people working for her are irresponsible I ran out of eye drops after cataract surgery my pharmacist called to refill my prescription 2 days no answer I went to Bethlehem office and asked them to call my pharmacist with new prescription no answer now it’s been 2 days no eye drops??????
This review has nothing to do with Dr. O’Brien. She was wonderful with my cataract surgery and post op too. I have tried to call the office yesterday and today. They say to push 2 for an appt or refills. I was on hold for 3 hrs yesterday without anybody coming on to say something and today I have been on hold for 3 hrs. I know it sounds crazy to be on hold that long but I wanted to see what happens. What if somebody needed a refill or to talk to the Dr. Unbelievable!!!. This has never happen before. Why have the phone on at the office. Not good. THEY BETTER FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!
The staff and Dr O'brien were careful with complete exam. Cataracts were noted however could not be corrected with surgery due to the developing covid-19 shutdown.
she was great before and after the surgery

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
