UPMC Altoona emergency room has thieves working there a wallet was stolen out of patient room while there the director of nursing says they are not responsible for items that are stolen by their nurse's the hospi
waiting 5 hours,did not see a doctor,left UPMC_Altoona and went to Nason,out within 2hours,great service.
very sick & needed blood work not only was the wait super long but the wait went with out any interactions from the nurses put the iv in left in for 3 hrs and when paged they ignored it. Gave medication before any results were back. When labs came back she said everything was negative and when asked questions she would just say oh it’s probably an ulcer or something we will give you meds. Saw the doctor in the hallway for 30 seconds before I could talk she walked away. Iv is bruised and swelled hours later.
If you want to die, this is the place to go. People passing out in ERs, nobody to wait on you. And if you get admitted you probably will not have a nurse to periodically check on you and make sure you're okay, even after a large surgery.
I hope you guys have fun with your huge lawsuit that’s gonna be coming your way. A lot of people are gonna be getting fired.
I would not recommend this hospital for anything they don't care about you I had stroke like symptoms in my report an no ct was done people in waiting room with iv bags an no beds available rude staff
If I could give this hospital minus zero stars I would! I'm calling Pittsburgh in the morning to file a complaint! My 87 year old VETERAN Father-in-law was sent by AMBULANCE from the VA by a surgeon for a STAT MRI for a possible aneurysm and a pinpoint pupil of his right eye. We not only NEVER saw the inside of an ER exam room but was made to sit in the waiting room for a total of 9hrs! When asked what was the hold up because the other patients who came in after us were being taken to MRI, I was told to call the MRI department myself! I didn't know I worked there? Which I did 3 times only to be told it would be another hour each time! I got a number for administration from the greeter and called them. Another 2 hours later he was taken to MRI, only spoken two words to and left to sit yet again! When called into the ER HALLWAY (HIPPA) for results the DR was asked if the MRI was done with contrast to which she assured us it was...it was NOT! It was a total crap show from the time we walked in the door until we were discharged! If this is how you treat your Veterans let alone an elderly Veteran you should hang your heads in shame! I am beyond disgusted with this place and these people! You should be embarrassed!
I recently spent 3 days at the altoona hospital 6/9/23 thru 6/12 and was amazed by the care I received. These young people, at least on the 12fh floor, gave me faith that the younger generation is doing just fine. Thank you for everything..Angelo Marino
I have severe asthma and heart conditions, in the past 18 months I've had countless ER visits and 30+ days of inpatient care. Over all our experiences are good, especially when compared to the hospital I'd been admitted to before we started just always heading for Altoona, no matter if there's others closer to home. The Er can be crazy, very naturally, we've been blessed to almost always be seen in triage quite quickly, then sometimes have to wait awhile, but every time, if I'm really bad, things happen fairly quickly. Once I'm admitted, the vast majority of nurses are kind and friendly and helpful, sometimes they're stretched very thin, and super busy, but they do their best. Here and there is a Dr or nurse that I'd prefer not to see again, but most of them are great. We are so grateful for the help they've given me.
This hospital has become one of the worst ones ever. I can't get into details but go somewhere else.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
