Dr Bowers materially misrepresented an out of network fee required for a cataract procedure performed in 2025. He indicated I was paying his office directly for a multi-focal lens ($1700) but then coded the charge as the "insertion of the lens". I was then charged separately for the lens by the hospital where the procedure was performed. I believe this to be willful misconduct. I paid $5k out of pocket due to his misleading characterization of what I was paying his office. Steer clear of this operation.

My cataract surgeries went very smoothly. Dr.Bowers and everyone involved in the process were very professional and very helpful and kind. I would not hesitate to recommend Sewickley Eye Group to anyone. They are truly an excellent practice!

I have to say a huge thank you to Dr. Baumwell at Sewickley Eye Group in Pittsburgh, Pa. for saving my eyesight! After multiple surgeries in West Virginia with Regional Eye Associates, was left with no vision in my left eye. I surgery was scheduled in WV; a complicated one; for the left eye, and I was scheduled for surgery on my right eye one month following. The surgery was ceremoniously canceled on me after mentioned knew a personal injury attorney. (Ihad been with him for 20 years previously, so of course I know him!) lwas then refused as a patient after they had already done 3 surgeries on the left eye! (Discrimination). Dr. Baumwell was very straightforward, had a wonderful bedside manner, and saved my sight! Something 1 find necessary and useful as an RNC PHD. and a jewelry designer as well! He is my hero! When1 asked about the right eye that had been scheduled for surgery in wV.... was told there was nothing wrong with my right eye! Makes you go hmmmm.
