My husband (who hasn’t had a primary care physician in years) just had an initial consultation with Dr. Feldmeier. The need for a PCP arose from a potentially-catastrophic medical condition that led to a week’s hospitalization in critical care. When we contacted the BMIA practice following discharge from the hospital, we learned that the first available appointment was in about two weeks, with a physician’s assistant. This seemed reasonable, so we were pleasantly surprised to receive a call indicating that an appointment with Dr. Feldmeier had become available the following day, a week earlier than expected. At the office, the check-in process was quick and easy; staff and nurses were pleasant and efficient. And we couldn’t have been more impressed with Dr. Feldmeier himself. It feels ever more rare to meet a doctor who couples examination with real conversation, makes eye contact, seems as interested in the human aspects of a patient as in the medical. A revelation, frankly.
