List of Daniel J Ackerman's Reviews
If we would have listened to this doctor my wife may not be alive today! We saw him while my wife was admitted in the st Luke's Anderson campus while she could barely even function. (Slurred speech, collapsing, headaches, etc.) I asked him to rule out a diagnosis called a chiari malformation which we had suspected she may have after years of agonizing personal research. This terrible man diagnosed my wife with a psychiatric diagnosis called conversion disorder which essentially means your symptoms are all in your head. Luckily we sought help elsewhere (mt Sinai in NYC). Turns out my wife had a bad chiari malformation and had surgery in Sept of 2020 and has been doing excellent ever since. Sadly it still says she has conversion disorder in her st Luke's chart to this very day.
This is a thank you review for Dr Ackerman, he has been my doctor for at least 40 yrs. He is kind and compassionate, if you tell him any of your problems (skin) and he will solve it. When he comes in the room and he makes me feel like I am the only patient he has seen that day.
No nonsense care.A real derm doc with emphasis on relieving or remedying a skin issue. No fancy creams or "plastic" ads in this office. To the point. Either its suspicious or nothing to worry about. Nitrogen swab can take of it either way. Or meds/topicals to take care of other irritations.
Terrible doctor. His solution to every skin rash issue is to prescribe steroids, steroids, and more steroids. Doesn't actually care about diagnosing the underlying issue but will tell you to "apply as much steroid cream every day as you need." What kind of crazy advice is that? When it's commonly known that these creams thin the skin and should not be used indiscriminately. Oh and he also tries to rush you out. I know that he's busy and that it must be difficult to make a living in this day and age but he could've given me at least 10 minutes for the $$$ bill I received. Do yourself a favor and see a derm who will actually diagnose your problem and take time to listen. Ackerman is a great doctor if you just want some prescriptions and don't care to find out what's actually wrong with your health.
My husband suffered a stroke in 2014. He continues to have problems, but his old neurologist was no longer under our insurance plan. Dr. Ackerman came highly recommenended. To my pleasant surprise, Dr. Ackerman had thoroughly researched my husband’s medical history as it pertained to his stroke. He was very informative and offered several solutions to try to ease my husband’s issues. He was extremely patient with my husband and was very caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Ackerman.
Seemed knowledgeable, but not empathetic. Not impressed with his bedside manner.
I have gone to him from before I was married back in the mid 80's. I used to have this itch on my thumbs which I couldn't get rid of (nerves) and have since disappeared. So now it is 2016 and I went to him for a few blemishes which I had on my arm and he used something to take it off but it would take a week or two. What I do remember about the whole visit was him being so patient and explaining everything. Also was reminded of how dry my skin was and what I needed (to do to make it look like his) which I did take under advisement. This year I had him check a blemish which seemed to have gotten bigger which he said wasn't the "c" word and he took off what I thought was a mole but was a cyst. Also asked him about toe fungus which saved me a trip to a podiatrist. What I do know is that he really takes him time and not rushes you out the door like every one I've been too.I still have to go back to him to see if the medicine was working on the fungus.
Been going to him for 20 years. Always friendly and knows exactly how to deal with your skin issues.
I've been with Dr. Ackerman since November 2015. I had a very peculiar reaction to my skin after Thanksgiving last year, yeap, blaming on the turkey and the food. Anyway, my skin was bad. It had ugly patches, uneven skin tone, red rashes and CYSTS. I was horrified when looking at the mirror. So I got referred to Dr. Ackerman by my cousin who already went to him before. He was immensely patient and tried to help me trace back what I ate and did. Unfortunately, he wasn't sure what caused it. So he put me on topical cream for a couple of months. My skin got better but I also got bad reaction to the products. Dr. Ackerman tried to find all of the alternative treatments to suit my skin and also with affordable brands since my insurance didn't cover. After several months, my skin tone started to be even, no more rash and cysts. He started to put me on antibiotic and it worked well for me. I visited him monthly for check up and he would pop up my pimples here and there pretty quick. It's been almost a year with Dr. Ackerman, my skin definitely improves a lot. It's clear and oh girls, you would know how much happy I am to be able to put makeup back on ^____^! About the staff, I really love them. There were several times that I couldn't make it to the appointment or being late from traffic. They were pretty patient and was willing to reschedule. They seem pretty sweet and I haven't had any bad experience with them. Too bad that I have to move off the island, but I'll definitely come visit whenever I'm back. And be patient, your skin takes time to heal and don't forget to adhere to your treatment. If you don't feel any improvement, let Dr. Ackerman know your concern and he'll work it out with you. Overall, happy client.
Dr. Ackerman is a very knowledgeable doctor. Great results.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
