Dr. Ilyas is an outstanding surgeon, and his de quervain's surgery on my hand was excellent in every respect. However, he is also a teacher, and one of his students performed the entire trigger finger release on my hand. I have had difficulty with scar tissue, pain, swelling and tightness for the past ten weeks after the procedure. Dr. Ilyas was present the entire time giving guidance, but that is like having a dentist watch a student drill my teeth. My result may be unrelated to the level of technical expertise during the procedure, but experience and expertise are not overrated in my opinion.
