List of Jeffrey N Retig's Reviews
I'm sure he's good at treating some patients, but for me, his care was substandard. He was good at ordering lots of tests, but he didn't seem to have the time to answer my questions about the test results. I ultimately decided to get answers from another doctor who could give me the courtesy of 5 minutes to answer my questions so I requested my medical records. Retig's office has been a nightmare to deal with. Apparently, they only have a fax machine (no portal with online records) so after lots of back and forth, I convinced his office to fax my records to my primary care doctor (who thankfully has a fax machine) and I'd get the records from him. (I had already signed a release). They sent my primary care doctor an illegible one-page intake form - that's it . No labs, no colonscopy results, etc.
The fact that this doctor is still in practice is appalling. He's lazy, uncommunicative, and doesn't listen to his patients. He would rather throw medications at you ( for which he receives a healthy kickback from the pharmaceutical industry) than take the time to actually figure out the issue and then address it. Additionally, the front desk staff are some of the most unprofessional people I've ever encountered in a medical setting. They openly discuss patients in front of other patients in the waiting room. Avoid this practice at all costs.
I met Dr Jeff Retig in 1987 when transferred into the Graduate Hospital in Philly after being hospitalized in Lancaster County PA for 5 months. My case was very unusual, we were told that 1% of the population suffered with. The medical team in Lancaster explained to my family after 5 months that my case "took them to their educational limit", I was termed "going sour". We would need to transfer to Johns Hopkins in MD or to Graduate, a teaching hospital. After phone calls to a relative who worked at a Philly doctor's office - arrangements were soon made for the immediate transfer. When Dr Retig came into my hospital room, he was already brought up to speed by the Lancaster doctors and explained that he also made contact with his former medical school classmates to develop a plan that LITERALLY save my life. This was before the internet or AOL. I remember him being Kind, VERY SMART. He calmed my family with plain and honest language. It was expected not survive Xmas - Thank You Jeff !!!
Great experience and listens well.
Dr Retig has been my GI doc for over 10 years. He is extremely proficient with a scope, his very knowledgeable and talented and I trust him 100% . I would recommend dr Retig without reservation
We had our first meeting with Dr. Retig today, for a pre Gastro procedure in May. We were really impressed and feel fortunate to have him do the procedure.
Doesn't listen or read your paperwork before you get there.
I've been going to Dr. Retig for over 10 years. He's absolutely wonderful. While it took a while to determine I had Spincter of Odii Dysfunction, he was extremely patient while we were trying all other options before the ERCP. He listened very attentively, and was available for all my emergency operations. He's performed ERCP w sphincterotomy twice for me. I've been using health grades quite a lot, and I want you to know that I think he is very good, experienced and trustworthy.
Always pleasant, friendly, and professional.
Dr Retig is one of the best doctors ever. He is kind and caring and makes sure you leave his office feeling like everything will be just fine. He listens to you and is there whenever you need him. If you are looking for a fantastic doctor he is one to call.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
