Please do not let anyone you love or care about go here. They are rude and do not care about their patients at all. I went here because I had to at the time. I feel so bad for the people who’s only choice is here because May is not taking new patients and there are no other options in the Hanover area. The staff was rude and always behind. I have heard the staff say things like “rush it”, “squeeze them in”, and they are completely uncaring when you address them with a concern. One time a technician was on her phone during my test. Literally on her phone. Then the machine malfunctioned and I had to redo the 15 minute test. How about you were on your phone and not watching. Another time an elderly patient got upset because the doctors were speaking outside her door and pointing at her. She was confused and very upset. And yes I could see in her door because they leave them wide open. When I mentioned this to the staff they did not care at all. Truly disgusting behavior from the staff. Another time I faced an over two hour wait. Every time the office seems dirty and dated. One time I even had to walk out because they made me wait over two hours (again) the staff did care and I overheard them again say just “smoosh” the patients in. Dr.Baer handles his staff poorly and has little care when speaking to his patients and explaining what is happening. I repeat again do not let anyone you love go here. I was blessed to find a much better office and doctor accepting new patients. I hope that others are able to find proper care like I did.
My regular eye doctor referred me over to see Dr. Baer. I was in today for a visit. The staff was very friendly. Dr. Baer was very thorough explaining himself in detail and allowed me plenty of time to address any questions or concerns.
While the cataract surgery was fine I was very disappointed in the followup to surgery. The doctor and his staff were very dismissive of problems I was experiencing and I felt I was being treated as a "problem patient/complainer". After my condition deteriorated further and I ended up in the emergency room and needed more surgery I guess they finally realized I was not just complaining. : (
I loved my visit today..I was worried I wouldn’t be as happy with my new eye dr because I love dr. Hemler’s office but everyone was great...
Spent 3 hours in the office to come up with little more than a glasses prescription. The technician was very pleasant, she listened to my concerns and tried to be helpful as much as she could. The doctor was very dismissive when I told him about my issues, as if I didn't know what I was talking about. His bedside manner needs much improvement. I came to him for expert advice, he did not give me that. I only got what seemed to be snarky remarks. He seemed to be untrusting of my own descriptions of my condition. Like I didn't know what was going on with my own eyes and body. I will not be returning or suggesting his practice to others.
My experience with this office was first rate. Although there was a bit of a wait, it was worth it to me because of the total professionalism I experienced from the screening staff/exams to the visit with the opthamalogist, who was very sensitive; responsive to questions/concerns and appeared to be extremely knowledegable and competent.
There were mostly elderly patients in the office. Patients were being brought in by van from nursing homes. I spent more time with the technician than the Dr. He examined my eyes gave me a diagnosis. I had questions and he directed me to a web site to read about my condition. Patronized me like I was an elderly person when I asked about losing my independence from losing my eye sight. Said I will be able to pick out my clothes and dress myself like that's how I define independence. Ugh!
Skilled eye doctor and caring staff

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
