List of April D. Armstrong's Reviews
Outstanding Surgeon and person, along with her P.A. Jamie. Dr Armstrong did my reverse shoulder replacement…little or no pain and very little PT. She is an amazing Shoulder surgeon.
Less than 2 weeks before scheduled surgery and now she decides I need a list of things done. All of which require 2.25 hr drive one way.
I developed a huge infection in my knee that disabled me.8
She is outstanding!! I had a reverse shoulder replacement and I had NO discomfort and within 2-3 months felt great. She is a quality surgeon who listens to your issues, spends time with you and answers all questions and concerns. She is so caring and pleasant. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has shoulder issues.
After 3 botched surgeries on my shoulder at Susquehanna health, Williamsport PA. Dr April Armstrong and her team fixed my shoulder, better than she had hoped. She is an amazing surgeon! Her team is outstanding! I highly recommend her and Hershey Medical Center!
My MRI review: a 60% tear in the supraspinatus tendon meaning an eventual 100% tear, and two other minor tears. I chose surgery thinking it would be an easier procedure since it wasn't completely torn. After one year and 10 months my shoulder is worse than before. I have less strength, less mobility and intense pain depending on how I move my arm. I went back for an assessment. They wanted to do an x-ray which will show nothing. I have built strength, so they say it is fine. I have worked extremely hard to build strength even with my new limitations. What remains, is intense pain when I move my arm a certain way. I have not been able to return to sports. I wish I would have never had the surgery and I would have simply lifted and protected the 40% of the tendon that existed. I had less pain before surgery.
3 years ago , I had two completely torn, retracted muscles in my right rotator cuff . One was torn 2 to 3 yrs. prior . I had almost full range of motion in my arm. Lifted all day at work for 5 months . Injury happened in June , Surgery with Dr. Armstrong was one week before Thanksgiving . I saw three Dr.'s in Lancaster, before finding Dr. Armstrong . One Dr. from Lancaster, practice withheld, recommended her to me . Also found a medical article on the web, listing her as one of the top 20 shoulder surgeons in the USA . In Lancaster, I knew too many people who had this surgery twice, within months . Dr. Armstrong was the only person I found, who didn't look like a young child who ,when I asked if she would do arthroscopic, looked at me and said, " I wouldn't do it any other way ." If you want the best, for your body, you should do some research on who is doing the surgery . I told her, and one of the awesome nurses, Jaime, with a bit of tear in my eyes , afterwards, how awesome they were to me , before and after surgery . I'll never forget Dr. Armstrong, and highly recommend her to anyone with shoulder, elbow issues . Unlike the Dr.'s in Lancaster, she answered all my questions, without cutting me off or talking over me. She gave me the feeling, she would listen to me for hours if I kept talking . and the Penn State Hershey Medical Centers bedside manner is better than any four star hotel . The best people ever .
Dr. April Armstrong performed my "Tommy John's " surgery a few years ago. Recently, she repaired my distal bicep rupture. She is very professional and highly educated in her field. I find her personable and considerate. I feel like she listens to my concerns and genuinely cares about my care.
A job well done on my radial tuberosity. I have no problems and my arm works great. She went above and beyond her job to not only get my MRI done asap, she booked the OR so that as soon as results were in she could operate. I am thankful for her!! Her assistant sucks!!
I have had many people give me raving reviews about Dr. Armstrong's competency ans skills as a surgeon. I have even been told about her great personality and bedside manner. That being said, I think I must have met the wrong doctor. Dr. Armstrong has been my Dr. For about 2 1/2 years and after many appointments, I have personally only seen/spoken to her one time! Her PA has been the only one caring for me. I have been in pain with severe osteoarthritis and absolutely no joint space left for 5 years. My steroid injections have no longer given me any relief and I have barely any mobility of my arm anymore. I am told to wait another "10 years" for surgery because I'm too young right now and would require too many replacements over my lifetime. Fortunately I finally decided to get a second opinion and am happy to say that 1 month from my first appointment with this new doctor- I will be having a total shoulder replacement!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
