List of Upmc Children's Community Pediatrics's Reviews
I gave birth to my son on march 25, the pediatrician at Magee hospital asked me what pediatrician he would be going to and to make an appointment for two days after we are discharged. That’s exactly what I did. My son was seen at children’s pediatrics and the physician said everything looked good and proceeded to tell us about the hepatitis vaccine and that he could get it early. I told her no. So I asked if this office requires their patients to get vaccines and she said yes. So I told her that’s fine I’ll have to switch and I know somewhere he can go. She then starts to tell me about her lactation class and schedules me an appointment for two days later. She told me everything looked fine with my son. NOT ONCE was she concerned about anything or expressed concern. The following week CYS went to my fathers house looking for my son saying they need to check his weight it’s concerning. (That’s how I know she’s the one who called, I put my fathers address on the forms)This woman called CYS children youth services on me and said I never took my son to a drs appointment after we were released from the hospital and his weight is a concern. And these people she works with tried to validate it by saying I didn’t come to a lactation appointment so they were concerned. CYS is called when there are signs of abuse, CYS takes peoples children from them. She could have ruined my life all bc I didn’t come to a lactation appointment bc I was TIRED as most parents of a newborn are and we would no longer be going to that office for care. I do not recommend them they are evil people.
We have been coming here since my son was an infant. Dr. Somers is fantastic and has an excellent bedside manner with children. In the 9 years we have been coming here, we have never been treated with anything but respect and friendship by the nurses and staff. They also have wonderful physician's assistants that you can see for minor issues, which is GREAT because most of the time, that is all the medicine you need. I've never waited excessively long or been hung up on or ignored and these days, that counts for a lot. I found Dr. Somers by the recommendations from the nurses at Magee. If you are looking for an excellent pediatrician, he is at this practice.
We have been going to this practice for over two years now. Nothing good about this place except knowledgeable Doctors. A 15-20 mins appointment takes 60-70 mins this is all due to wait, every visit (morning or afternoon doesn't matter) we have had terrible experience. Some staff are ok, but there are other staff including some nurses who were so rough with our kid. We felt we were just treated as a number, no sympathy towards patient or their guardian. I won’t recommend this location to anyone.
The receptionists gave me a hard time with getting my daughters childcare immunization paperwork filled out. My 2 children have been coming here since birth and to give me a hard time over paperwork is unacceptable!
The doctors are great but it’s a nightmare trying to get a hold of somebody. You’ll be stuck on hold for over an hour every time you call. Very unreliable. I think you have a better chance at winning the lottery than someone answering your phone call. You can try to message them on the UPMC app, but nobody ever responds. You’re better off finding another place to go to.
absolutely horrible waiting to schedule appointments and sick calls. unreliable
Hold time on the phone is absolutely ridiculous, it was never like that at the old location. Happy that we will be done with this office.
We've been using this location since my son was born. Each doctor has been great. They listen to concerns when we have them, take time at each visit (we don't feel rushed), the walk in hours are convenient for working parents, and the after hours line for the inevitable "now whats" that come with sick kids has been responsive and helpful over the years. We've had a pleasant experience with all staff from front desk to their support and rooming staff, too.
A super staff ready to serve your children when you most need them. I bring my daughter here for appointments and never went through any sort of bad experience - on the opposite, they’re always super nice from the front desk til the doctors at the office.
Drove 30 minutes to this place on a Saturday with a sick kid who had a temperature of 103.7. I have upmc health insurance. Walked in, checked in, paid my co pay, and sat down. After 10 minutes I was told that this practice will not see my kid because he dose not go to this office. So even tho its upmc childrens pediatric, they do not see upmc kids. Did not get my copay back, and no where does it atate this place sees its patiants only.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
