Dr. Scott Portnoy's Online Review Report Card

I had my cataract surgery in January. I have been back to the office a number of time complaining about severe swollen eyelids since the surgery. I have had 2 prescriptions for eye glasses and can't see anything because of the swelling of the eyelids that I have not had pre surgery. They never looked to see if there is a infection or anything that would have caused this. He never looks at you when you talk to him and the wait times are terrible. I think the muscles in my lids are the result of the speculum they used to keep my eyelids open while doing the surgery. They could care less. I will never go back there and will never recommend them to anyone.

GO TO A DIFFERENT PRACTICE!!! I scheduled an appointment for cataract removal consultation. Upon arriving at his office we were told they wouldn't see me since I was from a nursing home. This was never mentioned when I made the appointment. I've had covid, been cleared, and have received the vaccine. None of that mattered. They said all I could do was reschedule once they change "their" policy....no priority....I go to the end of the line and have to wait even longer to get my cataracts fixed (or go to a different eye doctor). Plus office staff was extremely cold and uncaring.

Yes , the Wait was LOOOOONG Too!!!! :( :( But, My Doctor Scott L. Portnoy was The Best Doctor of Ophthalmology, specialist in refractive surgery that I have ever HAD!!!! . Dr. Portnoy is a Excellent Surgeon too!!!

Excellent eye Doctor/Surgeon. Had cataracts removed in both eyes. Knowledgeable, friendly, professional. Staff is also excellent- helpful, friendly. Recommend to people I know.

This guy was the worst physician I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. I brought my six year old daughter in for an eye exam and myself an eye test. These guys are hucksters. They want your money and you out the door ASAP. and could care less about helping you. They were obviously over scheduled as evidenced by my hour and 45 minute wait. Then he barely spoke to me staring at his pad mumbling "uh huh, yeah uh huh". I could have told him a fairy tale and he wouldn't have noticed the difference. Same with his partner Sigel, he at least paid attention to my questions about my daughters eye condition, but was really annoyed about me asking questions. He came storming in the room like I was wasting his valuable time. Sorry but I'm paying good money to be here so do your job fellas. No excuses for this behavior. I wouldn't recommend either of these jokers to anyone I don't care what their resumes say. Funny thing is they were recommended to me.

I was given an appointment for 10:30. I expected to have to wait a little bit, but it was after 12:15 when the doctor finally walked in the exam room. I was just about to leave as no one should have to wait that long on any doctor. It seems this is not uncommon for this place as other people in the waiting room stated they had waited for 4 hours before. Not going back.

I have been wearing glasses for more than 50 years. I've been to a LOT of eye doctors. Dr. Portnoy is the BEST of them all. I have a very difficult prescription. I'm a -14.50 with severe astigmatism. I have not really been able to see well for the past 30 years. I was considering going to Thailand for Interoccular lens implants. I decided to give just one more local doctor a shot. And even though Dr. Portnoy was not optimistic about solving my problems - he did it. He fitted me for contacts for astigmatism and I now have nearly 20/20 vision. i"m seeing things for the first time in many years. Dr. Portnoy and his technicians spent a significant amount of time working with me to get the contacts right on the first try. I also was impressed with the courtesy and efficiency of his office staff. As a business person whose time is extremely limited I also appreciated that there were no significant wait times in his Natrona Heights, PA, office. I would highly recommend Dr. Portnoy and especially to anyone who has had long-time problems with their eye sight.

I will never go to this doctor again. He treated me terribly, he was very condescending, and so unhelpful, it was a total waste of time and money. He didn't treat my eye problem, after waiting for three hours to finally see him I was told I needed to see a different doctor.
