List of Alan J. Twer's Reviews
I've been a patient of Dr. Twer for about 20 years. While he's in practice and I'm still alive, he's my ophthalmologist. Straight shooter, experienced, excellent surgeon, great support staff. What else is there?
I have been to Dr Twer twice and found him competent in Optometry. His demeanor and conversation, however, are a violation to his licensure- to which many other reviews attest. I am vaccinated for COVID and grateful to be. But, an immediate family member who was not vaccinated was lectured and berated during their visit beyond the degree that any adult, let alone a practicing physician, would find acceptable. He is substantially overweight to the point that it seems to be affecting his demeanor and ability to practice comfortably.
On one of my first visits with Dr. Twer, he suggested I get a face lift. On another visit he insulted me again. My daughter took me for one of my appointments and she sat outside in the car for nearly 4 hours. He gave me a script on 06/30/2021. My glasses weren’t bad so I didn’t have the new script filled until October 2021 at vision works and tried to get used to them for 3 months. I took my glasses back to the store to have the script checked for accuracy and they were as prescribed. I called the dr office and asked to update the script since I couldn’t see out of my left eye. I have an astigmatism and he didn’t put it on the script. I asked that he fix the script but his team said he couldn’t see me again until March so I made an appointment. I called the next day and asked if he could fix the script to my 2017 script so that Vision Works would fix it for free. They said he wouldn’t do that because it was expired.. I now have a pair of $500.00 glasses that don’t work. Because his employees believe that he cannot make a mistake, then I have to believe that he did this on purpose. I am now wearing my old glasses that are being held together with a clip. I canceled my appointment and will go elsewhere. First two pictures is the old glasses held together with a clip. Second picture is my new $500.00 pair that doesn’t work.
I went here years ago and his equipment was very old, not modern like other eye doctors. He did not even diagnose my matured cataracts at the time while other doctors saw it. Also double charged me with a bill at end of year. If the equipment is bad/old or if the office is empty when you go, those are bad signs.
Very slow, waited for 3 hours for appointments twice already
Very thorough doctor with busy office. I trust him
Very caring, never makes you feel rushed, explains things thoroughly.
I don't question this doctor's expertise in his field but I have grown to dislike him personally. Every time I visit his office I have to deal with his condescending attitude and careless approach to treatment. He doesn't give the impression that he has your best interest in mind and doesn't consider the patient's point of view in treatment. I rather get the impression that he is performing a task for a fee and when he is done, it is very difficult to follow up with concerns and questions about care. The office staff is little better and they seem to follow his lead in being careless. I am looking for another eye doctor.
The doctor is pleasant I couldn't see anything before I went to him he removed my cataracts and I can see great.
Our health plan changed and we needed to find a new eye care doctor. My wife found a Dr. from Willow Grove with an office in NE Phila. I decided on Dr Twer because he is only one mile from our house. I should have listened to my wife. The wait time at Dr Twer is far to long ( 1.5 Hrs. ) for only fair to sub par service.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
