Douglas Troutman's Online Review Report Card

Dismissive, Does surgeries that do not address the problem, Does not read charts and during my final appointment with him before seeking help elsewhere he had no memory of ever performing a surgery on me in the first place, while in the same sentence dismissing all of my concerns and recommending that i get another surgery. Difficult to get information out of and seemingly poorly trained.

Untruthful: Dr. Troutman claimed he told me to see a hematologist after my first visit with him. He did. Had he referred me he would have given me the name and contact information as part of the referral and he hadn’t. Condescending: He did not inform me of that I had to take Eliquis for the rest of my life. He stated it is expensive and insurance companies don’t want to pay for it. When asked “How much is it per month?” He said $1 000 but you don’t want to go down that path. My daughter said, “We’re able to cover the cost. She needs this medication.” Dr. Troutman does not get to decide for me which path I go down when it comes to acquiring my lifesaving medication. Disrespectful: Dr. Troutman hadn't taken time to review my chart. He talked to my 50 yr old daughter instead of me an 80 yr old, even after knowing that I was the patient. Save yourself some frustration, disrespect, and bad medical advice. Go to a doctor other than Dr. Troutman.

My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Troutman and I cannot adequately express how I wish she hadn’t. I found him to be untruthful, condescending, disrespectful, and unwilling to listen. Untruthful: During my most recent visit, Dr. Troutman said he told me, when I visited him in October, to see a hematologist. My daughter immediately said, “No, you did not. I am reviewing my notes from our last visit, and you did not tell her to see a hematologist.” Dr. Troutman never responded. Had he told me to see a hematologist, I would have. Also, he would have given me the name and contact information as part of the referral. Had he told me to see a hematologist, he would have responded to my daughter. Condescending: Dr. Troutman asked if I was still taking Eliquis. I explained that I had taken it for the 3 months he prescribed. He then said you have to take that for the rest of your life. Not once during my visit in October did, he inform me of that. I understand that Dr. Troutman informs patients of this everyday however I only hear it once. He was insensitive and condescending when telling me I had to take medication for the rest of my life. I told Dr. Troutman that my primary doctor had prescribed Eliquis for another 3 months however I initially had difficulty getting the medicine from the pharmacy. Dr. Troutman told me Eliquis is expensive, and insurance companies don’t want to pay for it. My daughter asked, “How much is it per month?” Dr. Troutman said it’s $1000 but you don’t want to go down that path. My daughter said, “We’re able to cover the cost. She needs this medication.” Dr. Troutman does not get to decide for me which path I go down when it comes to acquiring my lifesaving medication. DIsrespectful: I am in my 80’s and my daughter, who is in her 50’s, went with me to Dr. Troutman’s office. He walked in the room and said, “Who’s the patient?” His question indicated that he hadn’t taken time to review my chart. There is no way he could have mistaken my 50 something year old daughter for an 80 something year old. Even after making it clear that I was the patient, Dr. Troutman addressed his questions and comments to my daughter. She is not his patient nor is she my caregiver. I do not need one. I am the patient, and I am the one he should have addressed his questions and comments. I found another cardio-vascular surgeon who possesses the positive qualities Dr. Troutman lacks. I had a follow-up appointment scheduled with Dr. Troutman but cancelled it. Save yourself some frustration, disrespect, and bad medical advice. Go to a doctor other than Dr. Troutman.

Dr. Troutman fixed two pseudo aneurysms on my husband, which were created by a horrible surgeon from NJ. Dr. Troutman did an outstanding job! We spoke with Dr. Troutman several times and each time he was extremely respectful towards me as well as my husband. I highly recommend him!

My mother went in for surgery to insert a stent for her blocked artery. She was in the hospital from 10 am til 11:30 pm. When I picked her up I thought everything went fine until the next day I did not see a prescription she needed in her paperwork so I called the emergency line because it was after hours. Dr. Troutman called me back and said she didn’t need the prescription because he wasn’t able to fix her blockage because it was to bad. I had to find this out because I called in on another issue. He never told my mother he wasn’t able to put the stent in or me. We both thought the surgery was done and the paperwork said completed. He never called me or seen my mom after the incident and didn’t even make a follow up appt. I am horrified by this because what if I didn’t contact them over the script? Why does the paperwork say completed and nothing else? To say the least I am getting a lawyer regarding this and I have contacted and filed a complaint with chestnut hill hospital director. Now I have to get a second opinion and make sure he didn’t do anything to harm my mother while she was under his care. This whole incident is unprofessional and harmful to my mothers condition. DO NOT GO TO TROUTMAN for any kind of surgery. He is unprofessional and bad character from what I have encountered. He put my mothers life in jeopardy.

Dr Troutman: has been great handling my leg wound with NO surgery. Takes his time. Listens to and answers all questions. Easy to talk too. Easy to make appointments.

Dr Troutman was informative and positive during appointment

Dr. Troutman is very arrogant and condescending. You can spot his ego from a mile away. It's almost like he gets off on making other people feel bad about themselves.

Dr Troutman has been overseeing my carotid issue for the past couple years.

I love these dr. They keep you informed on all work there going to do and they saved me from losing my leg at 45 years old . There my heroes after doing surgery on my father sister and my self and all three surgery’s were a success . God bless all from Troutman and Dougherty ??
