I used Dr. Bowles as my primary care physician for 6 years. She is a terrible doctor. I was in poor health and she didnt help me a bit. I had a thyroid autoimmune disease and she did not run the right tests. I complained of being tired all the time weight loss problems. She didnt help at all and discouraged me from taking medication that would have helped. I had vitamin deficiencies iron zinc vitamin D and she never helped with that either. It wasnt until I switched doctors and can look back on those 6 years with Dr. Bowles that I realize that she was awful and did not do her job as a doctor to help. I lost those years to feeling badly and if I had seen another doctor maybe I would not feel that way.

Karen Bowles was my primary care physician for 6 years. While she is nice and will listen to you she is NOT A COMPETENT DOCTOR I had below normal and low vitamin levels iron zinc vitamin D and was losing my hair but she did nothing to help. During that time I had an undiagnosed autoimmune disease of my thyroidwhich is the most common autoimmune diseaseand she did not run any of the normal blood tests. It was not until I switched doctors that I realized what a bad doctor she was.

I have been a regular patient of Dr Bowles for several years now and I am thankful to have a doctor that I have a relationship with so I dont have to explain my history at every visit. She is informative and helpful and I trust her judgment. She also is great at responding through MyPennMedicine so I can ask questions without needing a visit

If you have a potential THYROID issue which effects many women Dr. Bowles may not be the best internist for you. She recently diagnosed me with a thyroid issue Hashimotos disease. I had symptoms years ago and she failed to diagnose meI feel like I have lost years of my life due to real fatigue among other symptoms. Now that Ive done a lot of research I realize that she follows a less aggressiveolder protocol in diagnosing and treating thyroid disease. She only ran the TSH test not antibodies T3 or T4 which does not provide a full picture of the thyroid issue. She never discussed treatment options just prescribed the standard treatment. Nor did she recommend that I see an endocrinologist. I have had to educate myself be my own advocate.
