He may be good with kids, but he was extremely rude to me. He wouldn't give me a chance to talk, and jumped to an inaccurate conclusion because he wasn't listening. I felt like I was a bother to him. I would NEVER see him again.
Lovely experience with Dr. Nelson. My daughter is very shy and he was thoughtful and patient. While she didn't need corrective lenses right now, we scheduled an appointment in six months (along with her twin sister) to track vision. Front desk was equally kind and helpful.
The Doctor did not use gloves the whole time she worked on my son. She had her back towards me the whole time. This doctor focused more on the Resident learning. I felt left out of the equation. I am a a nurse myself and she uses bad practices. The resident/student didn’t even use gloves. I went to wash my hands in the room to notice there was no soap. So in between patients the were only using sanitizer.
Dr. Nelson is the best! He operated on my son when he was two years old, saved his left eye from atrophy. Thirty years later, the same son had severe double vision after brain cancer diagnosis. Dr. Nelson went out of his way to help him - did surgery on him again asap and fixed the problem. We are so grateful to this caring, excellent physician! Thank you, Dr. Nelson!
The Best! My daughter has had two strabismus surgeries with Dr. Nelson once when she was a baby and her eyes were perfect afterwards as she got older the drifted again probably due to Downs Syndrome’s low muscle tone but another in and out surgery and she’s been fine ever since she needed glasses to correct as a baby but after the first surgery she never needed the glasses again he makes it easy she’s now 20 and we still see him for check ups he comes highly recommended from my family.
I saw Dr. Nelson this morning for my strabismus. He and his staff are very professional and kind.I had a wonderful 1st. Meeting!!
Very good doctor and staff.
Dr Nelson is the Best! He has treated my daughter since she was a baby. She’s now 18 & he’s still treating her! We think he’s great!
Dr Nelson is amazing ! He fixed my strabismus after a year long journey of having an unknown etiology with many trips to different doctors and concerns that this would never go away. He was compassionate during my surgery process and made sure to Explain everything thoroughly so I knew exactly what would be going on as I was alone during the pre op process due to the new covid protocols. His staff at main line surgery were amazing and comforting. If I could give all the stars I would ! AMAZING! traveled 2 hours back and forth to see him. Would recommend everyone near and far.
I don't recommend Dr. Nelson. I am disappointed in my visit to Dr. Nelson. Despite the fact that the doctor wants to look smart and professional, in reality, he made the wrong prescription for my son's glasses. He measured fast and did not pay attention to the details. When I pointed out to him that it was wrong, he just didn't listen to me. He may seem to be good for people who don't understand measurements, but I have a serious concern about his professionalism. As a result, I got wrong prescription for 10 minutes visit and wasted two hundred dollars.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
