Dr. Schwartz is a very knowledgeable and respectful. He has helped my Crohn’s tremendously. My only complaint it that they never follow through after the appointments or hospital stays. When you call his office you never get to talk to anyone. You always have to leave a message and it could take days for them to return the call.

My elderly mother is a patient with Dr. Schwartz. She has colitis and the Dr. recommended a colonoscopy. It has been more than 3 weeks since her colonoscopy and neither the dr. or his nurse has been in touch with my mother regarding a treatment plan. She is 82 years old and now weighs 88 pounds due to her condition. What kind of dr. goes 3 weeks and counting without calling his patient and coming up with a treatment plan? And if he's too busy to do so, what is so hard about explaining the plan to the nurse and having her talk to the patient. I have a sick child who gets treated at Children's hospital and thankfully his doctors would never be so negligent in responding and following up. I am outraged by the lack of treatment and care this dr. is allowed to get away with.

Having lost a cardiologist that had cared for me for 15 years, I had to choose a new doctor. I knew of Dr. Schwartz and saw him a couple of months ago. He is dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend him to my friends and have done so.

Was seen by this doctor at UPMC Shadyside as an in-patient from the ER. Did not address my condition in a serious manner. Did not perform all required tests necessary to address my condition while I was an in-patient. Advised me that I could have tests run on an out-patient basis. Would not provide me with excellent care, yet would not sign the release forms for me to leave. My experience at UPMC Shadyside was frustrating and disheartening. My interaction with Dr. Schwartz was even worse.

I have nothing but positive things to write about Dr. Schwartz. I have visited his office many times, and I have always found him to be an excellent, thoughtful, considerate, caring physician. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
