List of MIchel A. Pontari's Reviews
I had a tele-medicine appt with Doctor Pontari on 5/3/22. While on the phone Doctor Pontari was kind enough to fit me into his schedule to see me in the office at 8:15am on 5/5/22. The Doctor did not make it into the office on 5/5/22 and myself and another gentlemen were told by a staffer that the doctor would reschedule us shortly. I got a call from the office on 5/6/22 and the staffer attempted to schedule me for another tele-medicine appt. I explained that I had a tele-medicine appt on 5/3/22 and the staffer said she would call me back. My wife called Doctor Pontari's office on 5/9/22 and was told that the earliest that I could see Dr. Pontari would be in September. It's May now. Im sure Doctor Pontari is a great Doc, but I feel like since the doctor didn't show (which is ok, everyone has scheduling issues) but I believe preference should be given instead of being pushed to the back of the line. I think this is BAD BUSINESS and I would not recommend this office.
I am a physician and graduate of Temple Medical School about 25 years ago. I saw him earlier this year for unrelenting pelvic pain. Without a doubt he is a brilliant doc. Compassionate, too. Wouldn't hesitate to have any friend or family see him.
Just started seeing him, he is excellent, smart, compassionate and takes time to go through all the details.
Doctor Pontari is s wonderful person and Doctor. He truley cares about his patients. Has always answered my questions and concerns
He misdiagnosis me for starters. I had to tell him what to do, was out right incompetent. Temples office was total disgrace in comparison to other offices. He wasted my time and risked my health for no reason. Doctor fresh out of med school managed to figure his mistakes out in less then 5 minutes. Avoid this doc at all costs, he we be the biggest waste of your time. Has no clue what he is doing. And the office is a crazy house.
Very bad diagnosis by this doctor just lucky I got someone else to look at problem
Was not useful, wast of time
I joined Yelp and had to look him up. Yes, Temple hospital is in a bad area of the city. Yes, public transportation is a nightmare to say the least but it was worth it. I really don't know where I'd be it it wasn't for him. He helped me diagnose a VERY rare vascular disorder that was causing me pain among many other awful symtoms. It took over a year and he never gave up or got sick of hearing me like most, and he found it. Is reccomend him to anybody. You can and will wait at Temple but if you have a serious issue it's worth it. He was never once cranky or mean either like most doctors. He returned all my phone calls too. Is reccomend him to anybody.
8 years past, but I still cannot forget the experience that Dr. Pontari put me through. I used to teach at Temple University and a great Temple physician, Dr. Marks, recommended Dr. Pontari. But, I assume, Dr. Marks had no real idea about Dr. Pontariâ??s abilities. Dr. Pontari performed a prostate biopsy. I still have terrible side effects and terrifying memories associated with what he did. The room where the procedure was performed looked more like a torture chamber, with terrible lighting, than an operating room. It looked very untidy and was not clean. The procedure was done under supposedly local anesthesia. But it apparently did not work. The pain was horrible - I screamed. Dr. Pontari, seems to be a mild mannered man during office visits, but his appearance changed from the start of the procedure and he was absolutely ruthless and unprofessional during the procedure. Despite that I was under extreme pain and begged him to stop, he brutally continued causing extreme pain. He promised to send the results to me and to my family doctor, but did not do so. I had to call the office more than once to finally get the results a few years after the procedure was done. Everything was supposedly normal. I still feel extremely uncomfortable to see another urologist despite that about 8 years past and I still have problems that were apparently caused by Dr. Michael Pontari. Discussing it with my family doctor, he came to the conclusion that the procedure was unnecessary in the first place. "I would never agree to it being done" said my family doctor. I should have discussed it with the family doctor before agreeing to the unnecessary biopsy.
I been a patient of dr pontari now for 16 year. I am a 34 year old female with twin boys. Whenever I get the chance, I tell anyone that my dr is not only concerned about my heath but also a friend. Although the wait is kind of long it is worth the wait! I wouldnt go too any other dr. not even for a second opinion..:-)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
