St. Christopher's Hospital's Online Review Report Card

My experience is that the Professional staff is very good. However, the other people who work there have a real chip on their shoulder. Went to the front desk, was giving wrong directions, came back, limping and in pain, and the front desk person shrugged his shoulders and when he looked it up those directions were wrong. Also, not a single wheelchair to be had when you walk in at the front desk. Huh???? Medical records person was very very nice. However, my records sat on her desk for 10 days and she still did not send them to me. I needed those records for another doctor.  I am in pain. When I called after 10 days she accused me of yelling at her when all I did was speak loudly because she got the address wrong when she repeated it to me. In my opinion there are many people with a chip on their shoulder there.

Chestnut Hill Hospital is one of the worst experiences when I was submitted there after an accident. Not all nurses , but most are unprofessional. In addition to visitors that came in and asked how I was doing they also had an attitude or just ignored them with no answer. As you can see from other comments the average is a 2.5 which is unfortunate for patients and families that have to deal with situations like this. Always suggest to be transfered to another hospital if you feel like your not getting the proper respect and treatment.

For years I've been going to Cheatnut Hill. I've always paid all bills I received from them on time. Well they applied a money I sent in to a bill that was not due instead of applying it to a bill that was due. Well that bill became past due and they never contacted me to tell me. After 40 years of paying all my bills I couldn't even get a call, even leaving a message, stating that I was past due. Good credit and good payment history with them and they sent me to collections without calling. Common sense would have a payroll agent see my history of paying , and contact me. Leave a message. I would have sent in the money for $150 dollars. I make over 100k a year. And once again they applied the $150 I did sent in to an account that wasn't even due yet. Well after 40 years with them, I decided to find another doctor.

I have Crohn's Disease and I've moved around a lot so I've unfortunately been to ER's in a few big cities. This is the first time I've ever written a review for an ER but I was so pleasantly surprised by the Chestnut Hill Hospital ER. I was treated quickly and with respect and care. Everyone was nice and answered my questions and helped me to feel better. I wish I could remember my nurse's name bc he was so wonderful! It may have been Daniel (?) and Dr. Argentine was awesome. It feels like a little hometown ER where you are a human and not just another case they don't have time for. I don't think I've ever been in a hospital where so many of the staff were kind and understanding. Thank you everyone for taking care of me! And PS - I passed my stone!

Emergency Room -Pros - didn't have a long wait, attentive and kind staff  Cons - staff seemed like they had no idea what they were doing: PA student asked me the same questions repeatedly, even the nurse stepped in to say "you already asked that." which made me feel like they weren't handling my concerns properly. Went in for concussion AND vomiting/stomach pain -- only focused on my head. Didn't put my whole body through the CT, my doctors are kind of confused why they wouldn't do that if I went in for both. The triage nurse was incredibly kind, however she repeatedly messed up my IVs and when she finally got it to "work" it was incredibly painful the entire time. Went for follow up blood work and the phlebotomist said she 'wasn't surprised' to see the mass in the middle of my elbow that formed from the IV pooling into my tissue instead of my vein, she had blown through my vein. The bruising in my elbow is where it had pooled & was exceptionally painful, the bruising on my wrist is where she just ATTEMPTED. They are quick, gave me IVs and medication promptly, however I am incredibly displeased with the level of care I received. They all seemed inexperienced/or just airheads. I didn't have my full concerns met or cared for and there were issues with the treatment I had received.

Let me begin by saying that this has been the best hospital stay/visit I've ever had!  Starting from meeting The security guard with the clown mask who took my temperature who couldn't be more helpful, to the security guard and front desk woman whose names I cannot remember, the mans name began with a G, and the woman had blonde hair, they were both amazing.  And then went and met Anisa in the registration/Cashiers office, she was so sweet and professional, I don't think I've never been treated so kind in a medical professional environment.Shortly after meeting with the cashier I met with Pat  in Outpatient registration, another doll.  After I went to registration I then went up and met with the OR prep nurses, Kay, Mary Delaney, And I believe the other two where Tom and Patti, they are, especially Mary Delaney, made me feel so at home and relaxed, I didn't want to leave there. I was then brought into surgery, of course I don't remember much of that, I woke up in room 306. It was then I met the nurses that would care for me from that evening till the next morning, they were amazing as well. So a special thank you to Liz, Porsche, and the other night nurses whose names I failed to get.  The next morning I was greeted by Tina and Jailyn.  Tina is an amazing nurse who provides great comfort, as well as a sense of humor that is much needed.  Jailyn is a wonderful young lady, who is going to make an excellent nurse one day, because she is an outstanding nursing assistant, not to mention she is fun, professional, and just the sweetest thing.  This now brings us to Paul, The physical therapist,  he was the kindest, most sweet, patient man I've ever encountered, he makes you want to do better, and I think I did due to his encouragement and professionalism. Then there is Tim, from pulmonology, you inspired me to look into quitting smoking as well as initiating another "you have to quit" lecture from my mom the whole way home, thank you Tim.  Last, but not least of course, I have to thank the AMAZING Dr. Pasquella For being absolutely amazing and taking care of my condition as if it were top priority, knowing that he has many other patients, he is a true professional, so caring, and makes you feel like there's nothing you can't accomplish even though you feel horrible.  I apologize to  who gave me such outstanding care whose names I can't remember, in addition to those that I have named in this review, everybody was so unbelievably amazing. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and I hope I never see any of you again (just kidding) Unless it is in a non-medical environment.  Again, thank you all so much!Julie Gillespie

I go there to see my OBgyn Dr Thomas Mabine. Even though I like her, she doesn't call anymore to give me my results. It's been a week now and I still haven't heard whether my Pap smear was normal or not. She also checked me for various STDs and nothing. I called today and was told the nurse practitioner would get back to me by the end of the day. To be honest, I have waited before for days for her to contact me. So I am going to have to bother them everyday if I want to get my results which are very important! Why can't they send them through the mail is also a mystery!

This hospital is one of the worst hospitals I have ever visited with my daughter. She was experiencing issues with her stomach. I will not drag this story but in short they miss diagnosis her. This was confirmed at another hospital. They are a racist hospital. Don't be fooled upon entering the facility seeing black reception, it is when you enter into the area where the medical staffing are when the truth of the hospital show is true color. Remember they botched a well known radio talk show host several years earlier and died. E.Steven Collen. They don't give a shit about people of color especially people of color. We made a complaint against this hospital. These dumb asses don't realize that the will come when they will get sick and want care guess what I would not  give a damn if they xxxxxxx die. This is a black experience and I don't expect white folk to respect what I'm saying they know it is the truth and I don't care why should I? These racist hospitals should not exist. Karma is a bitch and don't wish this hospital well I wish the opposite. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS HOSPITAL MY PEOPLE. WE NEED TO ESTABLISH HOSPITALS FOR OUR OWN AND LEAVE THEM THE xxxx OUT. I WISH THIS FACILITY FAIL AND FAIL MISERABLY.       I'M OUT  P.S. They deserve not even one star.

Chestnut Hill Hospital, won't test a patient for Covid-19 unless they are being admitted in the hospital and put on a ventilator, or maybe they won't test black people. I just read my discharge papers and noticed they changed the reason(s) I came to the hospital: Chest pain, trouble breathing, headache, sore throat, pain in my extremities, and a nasty cough. However, my discharge papers said "reason for visit" -cough. "Diagnosis" - cough with exposure to COVID-19 virus. The funny part is I've been isolating for months, so how could they determine I had exposure, yet refused to give me a test for it???I was in the ER, for covid symptoms. My treating physician asked me:  "you know what's going around? You probably have coronavirus. But we can't test you unless you needed to be admitted to be on a ventilator."  The doctor was nice. He said "if it were up to me, I'd give you the test, and everyone else that had symptoms." 5/3/20 8:25am. The staff warned me that this might happen. They only test patients that need ventilators. It's unethical, wrong, and misleads and shadow the actual number of Covid-19 infections. My home hospital Chestnut Hill is Trash.. God bless us all.

I had a serious issue a few years ago and went to the ER by ambulance (I was 34 years old). I was seen immediately and treated well. I ended up in the bariatric surgery unit and they performed emergency abdominal surgery on me. My one complaint is that during the testing to find out what was wrong, the CAT scan that was ordered was not for my entire digestive tract, it was just for upper GI. So when they found nothing, someone suggested they do it again, but include lower GI. They did, but doing it again entailed drinking the horrible drink again and waiting the two hours again, and waiting for the machine to be available again, all while being in intense abdominal pain. But they found the problem. If you ever have a mystery abdominal case, I think it makes sense to take a scan of the entire region, just in case. Anyway, they found it and their surgeons were masterful.  The nurses were fantastic and everyone took great care of me. I had been skeptical of being taken to this hospital, and might not have chosen it had I had a choice, but it was actually great. They were also very sweet to my partner (now husband) in letting him stay with me. Now if I had a choice, I would specifically choose Chestnut Hill. I also did not wind up with any scarring, or any need to go in for other surgeries as a result of this one, so I consider that a huge success. Plus they saved my life!! Drs. Plaszk (spelling?) and Dr. Myelin, along with so many great nurses.
