St. Christopher's Hospital's Online Review Report Card

I have Crohn's Disease and I've moved around a lot so I've unfortunately been to ER's in a few big cities. This is the first time I've ever written a review for an ER but I was so pleasantly surprised by the Chestnut Hill Hospital ER. I was treated quickly and with respect and care. Everyone was nice and answered my questions and helped me to feel better. I wish I could remember my nurse's name bc he was so wonderful! It may have been Daniel (?) and Dr. Argentine was awesome. It feels like a little hometown ER where you are a human and not just another case they don't have time for. I don't think I've ever been in a hospital where so many of the staff were kind and understanding. Thank you everyone for taking care of me! And PS - I passed my stone!

This hospital is one of the worst hospitals I have ever visited with my daughter. She was experiencing issues with her stomach. I will not drag this story but in short they miss diagnosis her. This was confirmed at another hospital. They are a racist hospital. Don't be fooled upon entering the facility seeing black reception, it is when you enter into the area where the medical staffing are when the truth of the hospital show is true color. Remember they botched a well known radio talk show host several years earlier and died. E.Steven Collen. They don't give a shit about people of color especially people of color. We made a complaint against this hospital. These dumb asses don't realize that the will come when they will get sick and want care guess what I would not  give a damn if they xxxxxxx die. This is a black experience and I don't expect white folk to respect what I'm saying they know it is the truth and I don't care why should I? These racist hospitals should not exist. Karma is a bitch and don't wish this hospital well I wish the opposite. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS HOSPITAL MY PEOPLE. WE NEED TO ESTABLISH HOSPITALS FOR OUR OWN AND LEAVE THEM THE xxxx OUT. I WISH THIS FACILITY FAIL AND FAIL MISERABLY.       I'M OUT  P.S. They deserve not even one star.

I brought my sister to the ER last weekend and had to write a review about how well she was treated despite difficult circumstances. Thank of course to all the nurses for their efficiency and kindness while delivering care. Special thanks to Dr Kramer who's bedside manner is old school despite his apparent youth. I've never seen an ER doctor take so much time in getting an accurate history and then later explaining his thoughts on what was causing the problem. We left feeling heard and cared for and with a better understanding of how to move forward. Thank you so much for your time and kind attention!

Terrible experience.  We made arrangements well in advance to admit my father for dementia.  I ensured that all of the necessary paperwork was delivered days before our visit.  Upon arrival we were asked for the very same paperwork  that they already had.  Three different people requested the same information three different times.  We were there for nearly five hours getting him admitted.  We repeatedly requested food and medication for my father.  We received nothing.   Hopefully the care is much better than their bumbling, disorganized service.  Regretfully I should have read the reviews before ever taking him there.  Save yourself a headache... AVOID THE PLACE!!!

I am going to agree with Petunia P.'s comment. I have lived in the area nearly 30 years and always go to Chestnut Hill Hospital for emergencies as well as routine diagnostics. At one time they were promoted under the Penn Health Care aegis, and I did not realize they had been acquired by a loan shark organization.I have Aetna insurance, which is common in this area. The hospital had all my billing info from previous billings and did not state that they were suddenly out-of-network when they had always been in-network. Aetna tried to work with them and to help me, but Tri-County Emergency Physicians apparently is not in any network because they want to charge extortionary rates. When I complained to them and Aetna,TCEP specifically stated that they would re-submit the claim, and when they did, they tried to double the charge, so instead of billing 800% of the contract rate, they tried to charge 1600%! Of course, if you have an emergency, you are not going to check Yelp for reviews-- you are going to go straight to your nearest emergency room and fall right into the trap of this predatory physician's practice.And by the way, the service I got was horrible! Fortunately, it was not a severe wound, but they had the doors to the emergency room locked so they could watch a game and I was only attended during commercial breaks.I have insurance, and fortunately, I can afford to pay more for extra or better quality service. But I got none of that here, while paying a ridiculously high price.This experience has convinced me of the need for a universal payer system to protect the public from predatory medical practices. We now have the extremes of either doctors who are underpaid, or the ones who make fortunes from fraudulent billings.I would like to encourage all victims of this outfit to complain to the Attorney General's office.

This place makes you feel like an intruder.

I was treated at the E.R. for a fracture at the base of my thumb. My experience was very good from beginning to end. The security guy at the front desk noticed my injury and offered to fill out the form for me. The nurse was thorough and patient - I have a hearing problem, so she had to explain some things twice. The x-ray technician was friendly and considerate - some of the x-rays required my hand to be in uncomfortable positions, so she worked with me to minimize the discomfort. The physician was very thoughtful and kind - she explained everything she was doing and what I had to do going forward. I'm very grateful to have this hospital so close to my home.

Felt painful lump in abdomen, drove up to nearby CH Hosp. Sunday night, was admitted for emergency gall bladder surgery (removal).  Was seen by nurse within 15 minutes of arrival, operated on early next day.  Complications required 5 day hospital stay.  ALL the nurses there were the best, very friendly and attentive at all hours, could not ask for better nurses.  Drs were as competent as I had expected.  Family has had several experiences there, all of them positive.  I highly recommend CH Hospital.

Scheduled for a sonogram, waited an hour at registration, then told I'd have to come back because of scheduling error. Returned next day to registration for appointment, told to go directly to test. Then told I had to return to registration. When I asked at registration what happened, the answer was "vacation." So I'm still sitting at registration an hour after my scheduled appointment. Stay away from this place if you possibly can.

Echoing other reviews. Lackadaisical was indeed the attitude in the ER. "Fast track" ER for a cut resulted in a three-hour visit. Never saw an MD. While some orderlies were very friendly, others responded to questions with shrugs and, I quote, "Don't ask me." Physician's assistant never introduced herself. Eventually administered local anesthesia, then disappeared long enough for it to wear off. Came back and started stitching, which hurt worse than original cut. "Sometimes it doesn't work," she said. Next time (and I hope there isn't one), I'll travel twice as far to go to Jefferson, Penn or Bryn Mawr.
