List of Thomas E Kowalski Md's Reviews
Dr. Kowalski recently performed a procedure to end my recurrent episodes of acute pancreatitis that other physicians spent 10 years telling me needed to be done but could not be due to the risk of...pancreatitis. They (GI specialists) preferred to refer me to someone else or wait to see if it happened again (spoiler: it did, no matter what I did-- no alcohol, no medications including birth control due to progesterone because MAYBE, limited food intake, restricted exercise options-- 10 times). Over those 10 years, my 3 children grew up and we never knew when an attack would happen. I became pretty anxious about every new physician. One visit with Dr. Kowalski and he, respectfully but firmly, dismissed the excuses. His experience speaks for itself when you hear him discuss your case-- YOUR life that you have been living that someone suddenly seems to understand. His team was excellent, and his skill is impeccable. I had NO issues with the procedure.
My daughter was referred by her GI doctor to have a pancreatitis flare up researched a little further. Dr. Kowalski was straight up an a$$hole! No bedside manner. He said I would rather just cut you open than do testing. (to paraphrase). He would do the test after. Jefferson is supposed to be a premier research hospital and from what I can tell I wouldn’t send someone I dislike there. He basically dismissed her issue. My daughter has been dealing with this for years and was told it might be IBS, but recently was hospitalized for an extreme flare up and it was revealed to be pancreatitis. He said basically your fat. Too bad. She has struggled with her weight for years. All the woman in our family have struggled with genetic weight issues. Even when my grandmother who stopped eating much in her final years didn’t lose weight. No doctor should be dismissive of healthcare issues. My daughter counts calories and exercises regularly until this. This doctor should be fired.
Dr. Kowalski is a wonderful doctor. I had gastric polyp and the local GI doctor was not trained in performing a EMR to remove the polyp. Dr Kowalski is a certified trained GI Doctor. He removed the polyp, and all is well. I highly recommend Dr. Kowalski. Bill
I had a great experience with Dr. Kowalski. I highly recommend him for gastric issues. He has great bed side manners.
October 2010 dr Kowalski- performed a procedure that at the time- gave me my life back. I went thru a lot and after reading reviews of people with similar scenarios, and outcomes, after having two children- and suddenly finding out I have several hepatic/biliary issues- I desperately am trying to contact this physician. He (at that time treated me respectfully, walked in after clearly reviewing my history and accurately told me what was wrong how to correct it and when I would go home. Ten years later- never had problems. Until now. Doubt it’s in any related- but this is the dr I want to find and ask for help based on my prior experience. I’m 33- I saw him at 25 yrs old. I have read a lot of things- but my memory is what I am going by and the results. I am hoping the bad things I am reading have not proven true and to get time with this physician to help me again.
I ordered 11 potatoes with ranch and mayonnaise but only got surgery on my stomach
spends considerable time with me - reviews my files - CAREFULLY - we had a good back and forth conversation and questions and answers from both of us - and at the end - he asked if there was any other questions I had. Looked directly at me. We also had a few moments of small talk. very comfortable and very detailed. No question about where my health was.
Dr. Kowalski is an excellent physician and has taken two very difficult biopsies from me over the last three years. He is very compassionate and spent considerable time explaining the procedure and then spent time explaining the results. I would highly recommend him.
He is a Horse Doctor .. oh wait I wouldn't want to condone animal cruelty .Is 100% undeniable the worst unsympathetic ,egotistic, pompas ,uncaring Doctor I have ever seen. From start to finish of appointment was accusations on pain ain't that bad ,won't ever give pain meds ,expensive long term therapy only is his belief for treatment. You could come in screaming in pain crying ,shaking from your bodies shock of your pain ,I'd won't matter.Crying out and begging for something for pain so to beble to just work full-time to keep me from losing my job ,said I was a doctor shopper and pain meds seeker.Inhumane! . .like mentioned above ,run for your lives !!
Dr. Kowalski is much more interested in impressing upon patients how important and intelligent he is than in treating their problems. It's a common problem among physicians, especially at academic centers. I'm sure he's very intelligent but perhaps he is a little insecure about his intellect for some reason. If you want to be treated with respect, you'd do better to look elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
