Dr Ahya has been my transplant pulmonologist for 5 years following double lung transplant in 2016. Actually he has been more than my Doctor. He has shepherded me through recovery, setbacks, personal life challenges in a way that no doctor I've ever seen has done. I have learned so much about my disease, organ transplant, the various systems of the body, immunology, the endocrine system and so much more and it has made me a much better advocate. I am regularly told that I "know a lot" -- not just jargon but also concepts and theory by other doctors who have treated me over the years and much of this is because Dr.Ahya, despite the demands of his busy schedule, has made sure that I always understood what was happening to me as reflected in tests, diagnostics, procedures and imaging. I trust this man with my life and for that reason, I feel comfortable running everything I do that might have an impact on my health by him first before making any decisions to move forward. This is the kind of relationship that everyone should have with their Doctor and I'm glad I do.

I had a lung transplant at Hospital of UPenn and Dr Ahya was my attending physician. He is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients. He is kind and gentle. I had an issue with mild rejection and because of Dr Ahya, something that was critical was solved very quickly and I file like a new person. Thanks Dr Ahya for your excellent care.

My husband had a lung transplant in 2006. When Life Star flew him in to U-Penn he only had weeks to live. His 5 year anniversary will be 8/21/11. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Ahya. For a young doctor he is so kind, considerate, and best of all supportive. I can e-mail or call Dr. Ahya and he replies immediately. You don't see that type of doctor too often. My husband and I have had the pleasure of knowing this great doctor and we would highly recommend him to anyone who may be having pulmonary problems.
