Dr. Yonekawa is an amazing ophthalmologist. I’ve been a patient since 2021. He has done a vitrectomy on both eyes. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The hole in the retina of my left eye was challenging. He evaluated options and a multi treatment plan chosen.

Had a retinal detachment. I presented to Wills Eye ED and was referred to Mid-Atlantic Retina. After testing I was added to the surgery schedule as the last case of the day. Dr. Yonekawa was kind, courteous, answered all questions and my surgery went perfectly. My vision in the affected eye is now 20/25! Dr. Yonekawa is an outstanding academician, a highly skilled surgeon and a compassionate person. Very highly recommended.

I had the Vitrectomy surgery in December, 2021 from another hospital. Unfortunately the Macara hole remained open due to my being quite ill at that time. For a year and a half my left eye made it impossible to see well enough to read or drive a car. I reached out to Mid-Atlantic Retina and I met Dr. Yonekawa who assured me that the hole would be filled. I was very impressed with his confidence that the surgery would be successful. The surgery was done at Wills Eye Hospital in June. To I was thrilled with the results. The follow up appointments with the doctor have only been more evidence of this outstanding doctor's professionalism and excellent care. I am again able to drive and feel more confident with my vision. Five stars are not high enough of a rating for Dr. Yonekawa. He has really given my life back to me.

I have been under the excellent care of Dr. Yonekawa, MD for the past 3 years…he has been at the helm of my entire recovery process since I sustained a significant injury to my retina in 2020… I am a professional photographer and my career was in serious doubt because of this injury but Dr. Yonekawa and his team restored my vision completely…Dr. Yonekawa has been an absolute blessing, for which I am truly grateful…
