He did surgery on me in 2015 with a very good outcome and now with the help of his nurse Tammy I am seeking upmc Nero surgery help again can not praise him and Tammy enough for their help would not go anywhere else for my back but upmc

Brilliant Doctor. The incision on my L4-L5 was barely an inch, recovery time short, he has a great personality, extremely knowledgeable of his craft!

In 1993, my 32 year old wife and mother of two young boys had neurological concerns. We consulted with him and put us on the right track to get a proper diagnosis through a brain biopsy. What was initially diagnosed as MS was glioblastoma multiforme, an unstoppable form of brain cancer. We did not receive a bill from him. I spoke with him. He denied an offer to settle. So, later, I returned to his office and offered him a bottle of wine. He graciously accepted it. At the time, I was fully employed and yet my kids qualified for subsidized school lunches. His skill, tact and compassion lifted us. His demeanor helped us to lean into the force that would come at my wife and family. 18 months later, my wife died. Dr Maroon and so many others sojourned with us and we never felt alone. He also performed successful surgeries on my mom's and two sisters' backs. I am sorry that some did not have the same experience.

As a professional, I believe that he is extremely gifted....professional, and at the least capable of being one of the most respected of the US surgeons . Though in my experience, as a grocery store employee with subpar coverage in the 2007 year , he treated me with no respect, Ignorance or concern. I am a hard working woman whom unfortunately did not pursue further education. Which does not have a thing to do with my integrity or value as a human being. This is the one and only time which I have publicly voiced a comment of anyone's professional Performance, let it be negative or not. I had 2 herniated discs....c-2 @ c-3, @ the age of 43. Not to mention the degenerated vertibrae between these discs. Just saying I felt like my health was not priority since I had" subpar" insurance and am not a citizen of enough importance for him Finally, 5 years later, I had the privilege of being under the treatment of Dr William Donaldson, of montifoure /upmc . All my respect and gratitude to Mr. Donaldson and complete staff. 💝 thank you all .. I can participate in life again 😊

Wonderful caring doctor who finally gave me answers about my herniated disc. So compassionate and his nurse Tammy was just as kind. Wish I would have gone to Dr. Maroon first! Thank you for helping me!

I personally have needed his skills and services 3 times since 2007. Each and every visit his staff are professional, kind , and very helpful. Dr Maroon is an amazing surgeon with extensive knowledge and top notch patient care. I would recommend Dr Maroon and his team for any neurosurgical needs. Recovery time was minimal, incisions healed fast with minimal scarring and he takes a personal interest in each case as if you are his only patient. If only ALL other UPMC facilities, doctors and staff were as kind, knowledgeable, and caring as Dr Maroon and his team are , there wouldn't be a need for competition. If I could give them more than 5 stars I absolutely would !

I could not have been more pleased. I came for a 2nd opinion, and expected the doc to "blow me off" I have cervical spine problems. instead, he spent a tremendous amount of time explaining things, and came up with a recommendation to do a nerve block. The other doc recommended spinal fusion, and seemed to say injections dont work. We'll ultimately see if this works, but it is a much more conservative approach.

This Dr. came highly recommended, (confirmed doctor for WWE athletes). Saw him in 2013 to diagnose my extreme chronic low back pain/lump. After reviewing my files and scans, immediate diagnosed me with Schuermann's disease and recommended me to another doctor in the UPMC network for care.
