Dr. Groff is the best!
Dr. Groff is an outstanding surgeon who has operated successfully on me twice and consulted with me several times. He is thorough and professional, taking the time to discuss issues and explain options. He follows up after surgery and ensures the best possible outcome for his patients. The poor review on this site sounds norhing like my 8 years experience.
First of all, Doctor Groff is a true “mensch”, a gentleman. He is knowledgeable beyond his years, he listens and has the best bedside manner. However, his staff of Nancy and Amy(or Sandy) and his office manager, are absolutely rude. I called from Israel to get an appointment with doctor Groff because I fell in Israel. Right away, Nancy told me doctor Groff’s next available appointment is in March. I said to Nancy that I had an accident and I am certain there are openings for people like me who have had accidents. Bear in mind that I am in Israel at the time. I explained to Nancy with a few phone calls that I am in Israel and exactly what day will I will be arriving back to USA. She said we got you an appointment for February 1. Then while flying back from Israel, obviously while flying you can’t receive phone calls or make phone calls. Upon arrival, I received several voice messages from Doctos Groff’s office that they had a cancellation that I could come right away. I called Nancy again maybe from New York at this point and she told me to come over. I said to Nancy that was in New York right then and that I was on my way home. Nancy, I mentioned to you several times that I am traveling from Israel. On top of that, every time I called, Nancy did not understand my last name or my accent. She called me Miss Velazquez and Miss Kate. When we landed in Pittsburgh, again I had a message that there is a cancellation and that they will make 3 attempts to reach me and that then they will give away the appointment. Monday January the 23rd. I woke up with extreme pain in my knees and decided to drive to doctor Groff’s office in Monroeville, he was not there so I called again and Nancy did not understand my last name and I said to Nancy that I am coming over to Shadyside and I will sit and wait all day and maybe I get lucky and someone will cancel through the day. When I arrived this time it was Sandy at the front desk and she was extremely rude to me. She said we know who you are and you cannot wait in the waiting room until 2 PM when your appointment will be. You have to wait outside. I said why? There are 24 chairs only 7 chairs are occupied. I said I am waiting inside watching TV . The manager arrived at 10:25 am and in front of everyone demanded for me to leave the office! She said it was a rule. Sha said I could not wait for my appointment at 2 PM inside. She said it was an order from Doctor Groff. She was not willing to listen to me and she was mean and completely disrespectful to me. I said to her I believe this is discrimination, who am I hurting by sitting here and waiting and watching tv? She had no compassion or any care in the world. I left the building she called me 20 minutes later that now they have an 11:45 am cancellation. When I got to the appointment, the waiting room was empty.100% empty! I arrived at 11:30 am to the appointment and behind me Mrs Schulman arrived for her 1 PM appointment. She was allowed to wait from 11:30am inside the waiting room. Not me! Why? They were mean and extremely unkind. Terrible staff! Lack of communication, lack of understanding other languages and accents, lack of compassion. By the way Miss Schulman is Caucasian and I am not! That is the difference!
Dr Groff is unquestioningly the best orthopedic surgeon in Pittsburgh. He did both knee and shoulder replacements on me and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
Did not help my pain at all. Waited until my condition got worse so I could get further testing to find out there was something more that was wrong.
Dr.Groff is a awesome person, His staff is also very awesome. I have had more than enough surerys in my life time . Dr.Groff has been the one Doctor who has kept me together over the years. Dr,Groff has done his job very well, it was me who always did what I wanted when I wanted to do it . If your looking for a awesome Doctor who will listen to your needs and wants Dr,Groff is the Doctor that you have been looking for.. ( YOU have nothing to lose but some time to come see Dr,Groff and his office crew ! ) You won't be sorry !

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
