List of Jay Elder's Reviews
Dr. Elder is so good with my mom. He listens to her and is so kind and caring but very intelligent. Very good doctor.
Dr. Elder is a very friendly family doctor I have gone to for decades. You may consider this review biased because he definitely saved my life on at least one occasion. Dr. Elder was checking my lungs (I am severely disabled) and therefore was listening via my back. He spotted an unusual mole and immediately sent me to a top local dermatologist (who formerly worked at the Cleveland Clinic). It was Malignant Melanoma which, back in early 2000s was essentially untreatable if not caught early. After surgery Dr. Elder listened to my personal research on PubMed which showed heavy doses of Vitamin D3 would help fight MM and gave me a prescription for what was then a very expensive medicine. He is very easy to talk to and is willing to listen to a patient's ideas. In other words, he treats patients as collaborators in their medical treatment rather than just giving orders and writing prescriptions. The fact that there is a local lab in the same building as well as a very fast pharmacy is also a plus, but most of all the doctor and his staff are very concerned with his patients. In addition to being a family doctor, Dr. Elder is an internist which means he is primarily concerned with non-surgical treatment and long-term care. He specializes in working with the elderly but not exclusively. Dr. Elder is also open to discussing what specialists he considers superior so if you don’t like one he will send you to another whether they are local or 100 miles away.
Used him for a decade, very caring and knowledgeable. One of the few doctors who actually listens to the patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
