My dad had surgery to remove a mass in his colon in June by Dr Roche. The issue we have is that he basically told us positive information, what we wanted to hear, how my dad was going to get better and how that he (Dr Roche) is more optimistic over others (rather than telling us the realistic truth) --my dad passed away the day after the surgery. Question is--- why bother doing any surgery if a person does not have a positive prognosis?? I guess it all comes down to it was for his own experience and that he needed to get paid for doing something. I get the feeling that we are all experiments for Doctors to learn off of and I truly do not have a lot of faith in todays Medical Technology/Experience from this and thank God for the ICU nurses for being more up front & honest with us about how severe my dads case really was. This whole thing could have been handled differently- I know its just a job to some but its us who suffer the loss of a loved one!

I would NOT recommend this surgeon. Dr Roche sent me for gall bladder testing(hydro scan). Read results wrong, told me I was at a 34 (really 24). He charted on one thing, told me another. Should have had out a year ago. Finally had surgery, explains NOTHING pre and post surgery. Uses staples(antiquated medicine). Feel worse after having surgery. Dr never said what biopsy said about gall bladder, had to pry info out of him. At post surgery follow up, complained of pain. He replies with, "I don't know, call me if you have an issues". Nurse points out to Dr, staples look infected, he blows it off, says they're fine. Pain got so severe, called his office again. Sent for CT scan. Waited to hear from his office. No reply. 1 1/2 weeks later, finally reach office. His nurse says, "Oh, Dr got results over a week ago, drink Miralax, and lots of water" Huh?? Cannot pass bowels a month after surgery and apparently this isn't an issue to this so called Dr. Terrible experience.
Very concerned and compassionate. Was very patient answering any questions asked. Explained procedure.......both risks and benefits! Knowledgeable especially about the surgery needed.

Went through a terrible life changing experience after a routine surgery. After speaking to several other people finding out they had similar experiences.

Great communication and care throughout pre and post surgery. Completely transparent about procedures and follow up. Overall a excellent experience.

Would not send my worst enemy to him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
