List of Stephanie Mackey's Reviews
Dr Mackey is an excellent clinician who took the time to explain everything to me in an unhurried way. She is obviously a good doctor and I am grateful to have found her by recommendation. I would recommend her to others easily!
I've been going to Dr. Mackey for years and it has always been an a positive experience. I just had some basal cell cancer removed yesterday and i received a call from the office to make sure i was fine and to see if I had any questions or problems. I work in the medical field and know several co-workers that also go to Dr. Mackey and are very satisfied. As far as the 60 dollar charge if you don't show up for a appointment, I totally agree with that. There are so many inconsiderate people that don't call or show up for their appointments and that takes away from her income and also other patients that need that appointment.
My first time with squamous skin cancer, and nothing was explained to me and the first appointment for the biopsy was shocking. Dr. Mackey came into the room, was very cold, and in and out and done in a flash. No time for questions or what to expect, nothing. Second appointment scheduled since biopsy came back positive. Was never explained the procedure or how painful it would be afterwards. I honestly did not even know why I was there or what to expect during this appointment. Again, Dr. Mackey was cold and in and out without talking to me at all or explaining anything about what she was doing, or why. I had to call my family doctor who explained everything to me that she did, and why. I never made another appointment with them. And 6 months later they charged me $60 for an appointment I supposedly missed? I had already started seeing another dermatologist by then, and never made an appointment or got a notice by mail or phone that I had an appointment with them? When I called the receptionist said they had made the appointment at my last one. Umm, no, I didn't, and did not on purpose. Rotten way to treat those who hear the word "cancer" for the first time and rotten to the core billing and patient communications.
I had a spot on my leg that ended up being squamous cell. I went here to have it treated and Dr. Mackey was in and out of the room in an extremely rushed manner and was very cold. All she did was look at the biopsied spot and then left the room. I had no time for questions and was not informed on what happens next. I left after being told I needed to come back for another appointment. I came to the second appointment not knowing why I was even there. All of sudden I am numbed up and having a scraping done which afterwards was very painful. Again, Dr. Mackey was rushed and did not explain anything or talk really at all. She was in and out of the room in a very rushed manner. They wanted to schedule another appointment for a check up in 6 months and I said no. I went home and called my family doctor who took the time to explain to me what had just happened and why. For a person who just a few weeks before heard the word "cancer" for the first time and had no idea what to expect, they were absolutely horrible. They also took it upon themselves apparently to schedule me for another appointment, after I had said no, and gone on to find another dermatologist. I was charged $60.00 6 months later, for an appointment that I had said no to! And that they never by mail or phone had informed me of. Horrible place! I would not recommend to my worst enemy.
I called to make an appointment for a suspicious mole and when asked what my insurance was, I explicitly told the scheduler. She said that with my insurance, I would need to pay out of pocket up front and submit any paperwork to my insurance company myself for any possible reimbursement. I stated that this was fine. Got to my appointment early in the morning and was told that Dr. Mackey would not see me as she doesn't accept my insurance. I explained what the scheduler had told me a week prior and was flatly told that I wouldn't be seen because I'm on medical assistance. Not ONE apology for THEIR mistake. Two employees just stood there staring at me and made sure to loudly state the words "medical assistance" several times so that the other patients waiting would hear. This is completely unprofessional and extremely angering. I work full time and am not offered insurance by my employer so yes, I am on medical assistance. It is Dr. Mackey's prerogative to not accept certain insurances, but her schedulers should not be giving false information to people. I wasted my time, and my gas. Not to mention was treated as though I had done something wrong. Where I come from, if I am the one who makes the mistake, I am the one who apologizes. Arrogant and unprofessional facility. Apparently, if my mole is cancerous, it doesn't matter because I am on medical assistance. Disgusting.
My family has been going to Dr. Mackey for almost 20 years. We have found her office to be extremely professional and helpful. Not only that, but her work has been exceptional. She helped my daughter with clearing up her skin so and she now has a gorgeous complexion. She has also done a wonderful job with diagnosing and removing skin cancer from both my husband's and my skin. I have found her to be very business like and forthright, as well as compassionate and caring. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Mackey has been my family's dermatologist for almost 20 years. She cleared up my daughter's teenage acne and now my daughter has a gorgeous complexion. She has also taken care of my husband's and my skin cancer, finding it early and removing it. Her office staff is very professional. Dr. Mackey is outstanding at her profession, professional, thorough and caring. I highly recommend her.
I am not sure what doctor all those people with negative comments went tu o see. This doctor and staff are very professional and caring about their patients. Perhaps those patients should go see a shrink. 5 stars for this doctor and staff.
The doctor and staff were competent and pleasant.
Office staff unprofessional! Do not go to this office!

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
