List of Alan Askinas's Reviews
I would not recommend. Very dismissive in hearing my concerns. Not only that, but his general knowledge of even simple matters such as blood type is lacking. Insisted that I was not O RH- blood type and that it is not possible to be O RH- with two O RH+ blood type parents. It is in fact possible (albeit rare) if both parents have the RH- gene but do not express it. Blood type was then confirmed by nurse to be O RH-. I would stay away if he can not even handle something as simple as blood type.
If Dr Askinas is your Doctor, get a second and third opinion. He wanted to remove one of my ovaries because I had a large cyst, he didn’t BELIEVE me that I had one and had to leave the room to ask another physician why they told me to book a surgical consult with him, and I was a healthy 28 year old female looking to conceive. Also had him when I had a miscarriage and didn’t treat it with sympathy. If he is the only available doctor, you should wait it out and get another doctor.
How do I leave 0 stars? Unfortunately we did not come to this site when picking a OB which was a HUGEEEEE mistake. My wife has been to this guy twice, he once told her that he would put her on a medicine when pregnant for a condition that caused us 2 previous miscarriages. Once pregnant the whole office said there was no medication for that, so that was a lie. Also he rushes in and out of the room like the flash and when my wife would ask a question he pawned off a pamphlet instead of answering the questions. We are now pregnant with twins and can't even get timely calls back regarding questions, or test results without leaving a message every other day. It appears by other reviews and our experience that he is just trying to hang out until retirement and not actually do any work.... not the best field to be doing so. Wife said the nurses were nice, but that's about it.
Was extremely rude for the few appointments I had with him while pregnant. Saw me for less than two minutes for the confirmation appointment. When I miscarried and he had to assist in removing the physical matter from my cervix as I was having a difficult time passing it naturally, I was in a lot of discomfort and pain, to which he responded, "This shouldn't hurt." I found that really offensive because I was in a lot of pain, and I have a hard time believing that he has had a miscarriage before and knows how it feels. At the end of the appointment, I asked if I should continue taking the medication he had prescribed when the miscarriage started. He said, "God, no. Who prescribed that for you?" And when I told him that he had prescribed it, he said, "Oh. Yeah. Well, stop taking it." Never going back to him ever again.
He was very insensitive and had me balling by the time I reached my car. I will never see him again.
Saw him during my pregnancy last yr. He was extremely rude, short & condescending. Made me feel I was doing something wrong by not getting extra genetic testing. Thought that was my choice. I was only a little over 35 and had no other risk factors. If I could rate a zero I would. I left that appt crying. I made sure I never scheduled another appt with him. He was on call the day I delivered - I got lucky he was going off his shift & didn't deliver my son. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
I work in the medical profession and feel that Dr Askinas is a wonderful doctor. He call me at home multiple times after surgery to see how I was doing. This kind of attention from a doctor is unheard of. He is a really caring person for his patients welfare
This is one of the most caring doctors I’ve ever met. He called me twice after discharge from the hospital to see how I was feeling after surgery. This is unheard of from doctors in this day and age. Explained everything he was going to do in detail for my surgery. I’m in the medical profession and feel I can recognize a good doctor that really cares about his patients He was recommended by many who work in the hospital who would have no other doctor operate or take care of them.
I went in for a follow up after a surgery. While I waited for him, I heard him outside the door ask how many more patients he had to see and groan about it. When he came in, he seemed very short with me and when he proceeded to give me my diagnosis, he gave it to me in medical terms. When I started to ask questions, he cut me off and said "hold on, I'll get a print out of what you have". His snide remark to a coworker was about me getting upset and how he wanted to hurry up and get me this info.
Left me high and dry at my lowest medical point. I had a legitimate surgical problem and I found him very rude, did not answer my questions, and was hedgy with my plan of care. Never seen anything like it. Obviously found a new doctor. He needs to retire. Office is ignorant and I was never called back with my results (normal or abnormal).

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
