Awful scheduling person! I try calling to make an appointment for a colon procedure and the lady says I need to come in for an initial consultation...RACKET!
Absolutely awful doctors and practice. specifically Philip Elbaum. He completely ignored ALL of my concerns and did not seem to take anything I said seriously. He actually missed a VERY serious diagnosis and was truly the most incompetent, arrogant, rude, condescending doctor I have ever seen. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. It is so sad that they are really the only digestive disease practice in the Reading, PA area.
I had services done at this center and didnt have a problem I am due for a 5 year follow up however my job switched insurances and this practice no longer takes United Health Care. This is so disheartening and upsetting. I can not afford OON costs. My health care advocate through insurance had to locate a new center 28 miles ways that was in network along with the surgery center they work with. Very upsetting and disappointed. I was very comfortable with Digestive Disease.
The receptionists at this place are terrible, they don’t know how to treat people. They have bad attitude 0 start. Some doctor are really nice.
They treated me horrible. The lady I had an appointment with was asking questions that I don't know but if she would have looked at my chart she would know what I was diagnosed with instead of treating so bad Nota good place
The PA and tech's I dealt with there are professional, but the systems are more than frustrating. It is impossible to reach anyone on the phone and return calls take hours or don't happen. If you manage to get an appointment, you'll get MANY texts regarding it and will have to reconfirm the appointment many times if you don't want it cancelled.
Impossible to get hold of someone when needed. And get disconnected when finally do after spending forever on hold!! Did not get call back either
This was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Completely disregarding concerns and what I was experiencing. Disregarded needing low prep for an EGD or colonscopy due to weight loss surgery. Ignored my vitamin deficiencies. Ignored test results showing a mildly fatty liver. Can never get anyone on the phone for assistance, and guess what, can’t even get the office manager on the line either. Currently in the works to get a referral for a new practice over an hour away because anything has to be better than this.
I have had colonoscopies here for years & never had problems. My doctor is Dr Shah, he's thorough & polite. Staff members have always been very professional.
I would never go back to this place. If I would know all the issues I did have with this facility I would never give them even a try. The doctor wrote symptoms I did not have when I visited the office. I mentioned to him symptoms I have months before I went to the office and he wrote it as I was having the same issues at that moment. ZERO TRUST in the physician and/or the office. I am still disputing a bill for a test that was fully covered with my insurance if Digestive Disease Associates would code it correctly. I can not remember how many times I called and how much time I wasted waiting and talking to the staff but they never correct their mistake. I was told for more than one person that my problem will be solve but they never did it. Right now, I am still disputing this balance for a test that was unnecessary on my case (I was asymptomatic). I went because I had family history of gastric cancer. If you have the chance to look for another office, please don't think it twice, do not waste your time and specially money with this office.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
