Wellspan Bariatric Surgery's Online Review Report Card

Dr Shariff is amazing! I am now 6 months post op and down 115#. I have not had any issues or complications from my surgery. The office staff was great about scheduling and got my insurance all situated. I definitely recommend Dr. Shariff and Wellspan Bariatric surgery. I wish I had done this a long time ago!

Dr. Shariff has been wonderful! She is extremely easy to talk to and always there to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I'm 4 weeks post-op with no issues or complications. Additionally, my nurse navigator, Debbie, was so so helpful throughout the process. Everyone in the office is kind, professional, attentive and pleasant to interact with. I would highly recommend the York office for anyone looking to have bariatric surgery.

Update: I received a call from the office manager who was wonderful and very helpful. She agreed I should have been given a number for IT when the appointment debacle happened instead of told to just reschedule, which I did bring up at the time that this all happened. I ended up having my appointment with Dr. Shariff the following month and she was wonderful as expected! The office manager even asked if I wanted to speak directly with Dr. Shariff. I did let her know my original issue was never with Dr. Shariff but with the office staff. I appreciated this call and was pleased with the outcome. When I was in the office for my appointment, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Despite this original issue, I am very happy with Dr. Shariff and the rest of the office staff and am grateful for the care I am receiving from Dr. Shariff and her staff. I had been counting down the days until my 10:30AM appointment with Dr. Shariff. I logged into the video visit, and was told she was running behind which was absolutely no problem at all. Around 11:10, my computer had an automatic restart message and I went ahead and restarted. Once I logged back into WellSpan, there was no way for me to get back to the video visit screen and the appointment showed as a past appt, as the appointment time had passed. I called into the office and spoke with Luanne who had no idea how to help me. After explaining a few times what had happened, She tried to reschedule the appointment for 1045, but this didn’t go through, as I never got a notification and when I logged out and back in, it still did not show a new appointment, just the old one. I asked if Dr. Shariff could call me on the phone instead, and she said no that was not possible. Instead of trying to figure out a solution to accommodate my appointment, she told me to just reschedule. I asked if I could please keep the appointment today since I have been waiting quite some time to meet with her and had no problem that she was running late, as I completely understand that this is to be expected in busy medical offices. Again I was told I should just reschedule because she didn’t know how else to connect me into the video visit. I was told “I really don’t know what to do”. I am extremely disappointed, and at no fault of Dr. Shariff. The “I don’t know what else to do” is kind of a ridiculous answer. I should have asked to speak with someone else in the office because I am sure there would’ve been other options than to just reschedule. I have never written a review before… but this truly bothered me. I am an RN and deal with issues like this often, but I am always willing to find a way, even if that means calling the client back after I have looked into the problem to try to rectify it. Really not looking forward to having to deal with this kind of thing again, but am not willing to give up on meeting with Dr. Shariff to discuss my medical care.

Initially, I was treated quite respectfully, but serious problems arose. The receptionist at the sister clinic across george street was very condescending because I was disabled and couldn't afford the $25/nutrition class copay that medicaid wouldn't cover. I was then snapped at by a nurse when I called to ask the status of my medical proceedings. I understand people have bad days, but she only snapped at me because I STUTTERED on the phone. Now, at this point I was angry and said some things to her I regret, but what happened on my next appointment was uncalled for. Dr. Ryan and the clinic director came into the examination room and told me I was "extremely abusive" to staff and basically threatened me in front of my mother. I asked Dr Ryan if he thought it was accepted for his staff to get nasty and condescending to someone who has an obvious speech impediment, and he just threw up his hands and smiled. He then tells me I am not longer welcome as a patient. I received better treatment from medical staff in prison than this place. Stop going to Wellspan anything! I have, and my only regret is not having done so, sooner.

Dr. Monk did not do his homework when it came to my wifes surgery. He actually told her that she needed to gain weight to qualify for Gastric bypass .When she did she was approved for the procedure. She has had nothing but horrible problems since .Due to his policy he will not refer her to anybody else for help and she has been in other hospitals due to now anerexia .He is in my opinion a quack and is in it for the money. Dont go to him!!!!!!!

Excellent. Dr. Ryan and staff have taken wonderful care of me. I am 100 pounds less now, with 6 pounds to go. It has been 10 months. I am jogging 3 miles 3 or 4 times a week. The classes, which I initially was resistant to, totally prepared and helped me with after surgery care. You follow what they outline for you to do and you feel good and loose weight I have been blessed with courage and my fortitude to take charge of my health. I no longer have high blood pressure, reflux, inflamed arthritis, incontinence. I feel so awesome and healthy. I can run around with grandchildren; jog with 17 year old. My husband calls me sexy. My question quality of life has improved 100 %. Good Luck. And Dr Ryan is wonderful at educating and a allowing you to ask questions ask for him Holly.
