List of MIchael J. Hulstyn's Reviews
The office was clean, everyone was professional and felt totally at ease. No “white coat syndrome” feeing.
Very helpful before and after procedure! Made me feel less anxious about everything! Very cooperative and understanding throughout the whole process!
Very professional yet very down to earth! No pressure to just cut you open. Really explains things and not in a rush! Would recommend him very highly!
Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional. That helped put me at ease during a stressful time.
As always, Dr. Hulstyn is The Very Best: professional, human, thoughtful, thorough and takes the scare out. He has done surgery before on my husband (a total success) and today arranged for us to see Dr. Barrett (Michaela Spina, his assistant, MA made all the arrangements and took all the care to get us in soon without us having to try and crack into Dr. Barrett’s world. The two of them are to be commended for all their help, kindness and care along the way. Having confidence as we do in University Orthopedics just means the world in getting through problems. Couldn’t be more confident, pleased and comfortable with both of them and likely will be the same with Dr. Barrett. Our sincere thanks for being Who you are and How you are......
Great surgeon
He chose not to read my MRI and keep insisting that my issue was from rheumatoid arthritis which it was not since my rheumatoid doctor has done numerous tests over the past 6 months to insure it wasn't part of the problem. He didn't even listen to the orthopedic doctors assessment that it was not the cause either. Scar tissue will not be cured by physical therapy. Thanks for making my issue worse and not listening to the patient or 2 other doctors and just blowing a patient off entirely. I've never felt so dismissed. This appointment was after 2 years of pain and problems and not being able to walk properly. You should really learn to listen to the issue instead of just reading a file before an appointment and making a decision before actually hearing from the patient. The comments he was making clearly showed he hadn't even read the entire file.
Dr. Hulstyn treated me after my left knee injury, following a ski accident Feb 2018. His diagnostic judgement and the follow-up were most professional and he did not jump to conclusions w/o going through a meticulous evaluation period and gave me enough time to recover by PT instead of rushing to surgery. All five of those starts are well earned
Dr Hulstyn has performed 6 surgeries for me with great success. I first went to him with knee pain. He dealt with that through arthroscopic surgery. He also fixed both rotator cuffs. And then he repaired tendons in my ankles. I absolutely love this guy. He listens, never rushes, and always leaves you feeling confident. Every surgery was a full success.
He fixed my ACL and bucket handle meniscus tear. I'm back to 100% after nine months including soccer and kick boxing. He is a skilled surgeon and gets the job done! Highly recommended!!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
