The worse Dr I have ever had Doesn't listen to you.. Did not help me made me worse. I suffered from severe anxiety he say there's nothing wrong with me. Said I didn't need any medicine to help my severe anxiety He should be bard ... Told my work i wasn't sick... He's a piece of garbage he shouldn't be treating patients ....
Dr McQuiggan is incredibly compassionate and intuitive. I am amazed at how helpful he has been. Working with him and my therapist, I can confidently say I am in the best hands.
I have been a attentive of this amazing doctor for maybe 2-3 years. I have been diagnosed with mental illness over the past 10-12 years. Since seeing this physician, my accurate diagnosis has been identified and managed quite well in an amazing amount of time! He is gifted with compassion! He listens so well, he is not quick to give you the latest treatment and closely monitors all effects and potential side effects of treatment prescribed. When prescriptions need refill, he does so immediately! I have done SO well under his care and can say that I’m happy he is young so I can have him a long time!
My primary care doctor referred me to this psychiatrist because he was in the lifespan network. I have cptsd/adhd/anxiety & major depressive disorder. I went to him bc my anxiety was bad. He put me on lexapro. Immediately I trusted him as a professional and took it as recommended. The medication made me excessively fatigued to the point where I wasn't able to do even the minimal stuff around my house I could previously do. I was concerned about the other side effects as well but every time I talked to him he just wanted to increase my meds, despite it making me have worse executive dysfunction, making me feel manic, etc. I wanted to try an adhd med that also had anti-anxiety properties (strattera) and he flatout refused to approve those meds for me. He said he didnt want to prescribe me a "STIMULANT". I asked him several appointments in a row for a med switch and he just would talk over me. He didn't acknowledge my concerns and would brush them off. I don't know if it was sexism or what but it just rubbed me the wrong way. When he said strattera was a stimulant I lost all faith in him bc it is *not* a stimulant. I looked for a new psych and now I'm on new meds that are helping my adhd. If you are looking for a psych who will listen to you, Michael McQuiggen is NOT the guy.
He is one of the better psychiatrists in RI.
In my opinion this so-called therapist should reconsider practicing psychiatric medicine. He presented as a caring practitioner which was so far from how he conducts himself with a patient. He is a bully and is doing a disservice to the patients in the psychiatric community. He is extremely rude, shows zero sympathy, and his ability to practice psychiatric medicine should be questioned. I will be filing a formal complaint to the licensing board in the very near future. It might just save a life.
Michael’s inexperience is overwhelming. Demonstrated a complete inability to diagnose/recognize pre-existing conditions and tried to force a treatment plan that was previously documented to be ineffective. Shows extreme ineptitude which begs the question - why does he have so few patients. Hopefully experience will lead him to become a "qualified" health care professional but until then, I highly recommend you look elsewhere.
