Excellent
Dr Barrett was awesome. Appointments were on time throughout, he explained everything, and the surgery itself went great. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for this surgery. 3 weeks Post Op, still sore but on the mend and glad I did it...
Dr. Barrett is wonderful. I just had total knee replacement and my outcome is so good. My pain has been minimal and well-managed, and my healing is going so well. The staff are friendly, helpful, and responsive. His assistant, Jason, is the best! Dr. Barrett shows great concern for my health and qell-being and he really listens. I cannot recommend more highly
I just had both hips replaced. Dr. Barrett and his staff were outstanding. They made me feel special. The entire process was very well managed. Surgery was virtually painless, and recovery was quick. I would recommend them to anyone needing hip replacement surgery.
I received a total hip replacement and went from barely being able to walk, to walking without a walker or cane just 4 days after surgery! Dr. Barrett sincerely cares about his patients, their well being and progress. You will not find a better surgeon. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Barrett and his team for giving me my health back.
Dr. Barrett has performed successful TKRs on both my knees, two years apart (2019, 2021). He has put together an excellent collaborative care team -- in the office and in the hospital -- who are also highly professional, very caring, and always responsive. The recovery from my surgeries was/ has been excellent, and you can hardly see my scars (if that matters to you)! Don't forget your PT! Barrett's team appears to really like & admire him and the hospital Ortho staff all spoke of him in the highest regard as a surgeon and a super nice guy. Barrett also successfully completed an emergency hip replacement for my elderly mother a few years back, and he was awesome with her surgery and care, as well. I highly recommend surgeon Tom Barrett, MD. If I had a third knee, I'd go straight back to him.
Had total left knee replacement in May and total right knee replacement in August. Highly recommend Dr. Barrett and his associated, Jason Wilhelm, NP. Both were incredibly informative, were never pushy, thoroughly (and accurately!) explained what I could expect post-surgery and, most importantly, have always been available to return my calls to answer my questions. I think these two walk on water (I never would have had them do the second knee if I didn't) and I give them the highest of recommendations.
Went to Dr Barrett for a 2nd opinion and found his explanation of the process and expectations thorough and exceptionally helpful in making a hip replacement decision.
I received a hip replacement from Dr .Thomas Barrett at University Orthopedics in Rhode Island. It was a life changer. I had progressive osteoarthritis in my left hip, which made me increasingly incapacitated and in constant pain for the last 18 months. With a referral from my primary care physician, I went to my appointment at the Kettle Point facility. (Incredible campus). I was seen, x-rayed, and immediately diagnosed by Dr. Barrett, that my left hip was destroyed, and my only recourse was a total hip replacement. Surgery was scheduled. I received a call from Dr. Barrett on the evening prior to the procedure, inquiring how I was doing, and if I had any concerns or questions. I have never had a physician do that to me before. Day of surgery- I arrived at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. for the event. At multiple times I was asked for the name of my surgeon. When I responded “Dr. Barrett,” the universal response to me was “ He is the best”. He is. 6 weeks later-I am cured.

At week 6 post surgery, I am back to my old self-pain free, and riding my bicycle 20 miles at almost full speed. Game Changer. I want to thank Dr. Barrett for giving me- my active life back, and for the old school concern that he has for the patients in his care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
