He is the most worst doctor you can ever have he is nothing but to put your name out on the website all private information is giving and the Newport hospital deafening him this is the 2 time they defended him it’s time to get a lawyer also I had to be taken from his care and was given the proper care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I and my family members have encountered Dr. Stengel on several occasions in the ER at Newport Hospital. He is friendly, down to earth, really knowledgeable, is happy to answer questions and he makes even a trip to the ER a good experience. The hospital is very lucky to have him, and patients are lucky if they get him in the ER.

Brought my companion to Newport Hospital Emergency last year because it appeared she had a stroke. Over 5 hours later Stengel had done nothing for her: Wouldn't do anything to reduce her blood pressure. Eventually he had an MRI done then afterwards told us there was no one there to evaluate it. It should never have been done if there was no one to read it. Wnted to send her to Providence and at that point we left. Saw three neurologists at another MA hospital and all said the MRI was useless. By the way, the emergency room area at Newport wasn't all that sanitary. Overall, a poor experience.

Took companion to Newport Hosp emergency on urging of eye doctor and after over 5 hours with Stengel NOTHING was done to alleviate condition: Nothing for the high blood pressure (his reply when questioned was that they don't medicate unless BP was some absurdly high reading, something like 250/150!). He had an MRI done yet were no neurologists there to read it and wanted to ship her off to Providence. Following week took her to 3 different neurologists (not in Newport), all said the MRI was not useable the way it was done. When Stengel gave her the disk he muttered something about it not being good. Stengel should have done something to bring her pressure down and advised her before having the MRI done that there was no one there qualified to evaluate it. Finally, the local Stop & Shop is cleaner than the Newport Emergency room area.
