List of Bret A Ancowitz's Reviews
It feels like all of my best doctors have been moving on to other places recently, and Dr. Ancowitz is one of them. Reading down, it's sad to see such strage reviews! It's hard to believe they were seeing the same doctor as me. While he can run late to office visits, it's because he spends so much time explaining things to patients, and he's the only doctor I have who gives me a full printout of the plan at each and every visit, which has been so helpful to me. Thanks for everything Dr. Ancowitz!
My man does not own a watch or manners, wish him the best at a different practice or suggest he become a surgeon, bedside manner is terrible, might do better not having to speak to patients
I've had a LOT of doctors, but no one else communicates as clearly or effectively my medical issues as Dr. Ancowitz. He tells things as they are without sugar coating or telling the patient what to do, and he enthusiastically welcomes questions and clarifications, unlike almost any doctor I've had. He is at times let down by his office, which has long been a Harbor Medical problem across the board from my PCP to my specialists, but that's certainly not his fault. The other critical reviews here are crazy (pink eye? bully?). Don't hesitate. He's one of the best.
He kept me waiting over one hour and then berated me for being impatient.
I have seen Dr. Ancowitz for a few conditions for several years. Very professional, friendly, and takes time to explain my conditions clearly.
I have seen a lot of doctors for my health issues but Dr. Ancowitz is definitely one of the best. He was a great listener and explained my condition to me patiently and in language I could understand. Highly recommended!
I saw Dr. Ancowitz due to some bleeding episodes. A colonoscopy was scheduled as well as an endoscopy due to my recent GERD symptoms. I was sent home from the procedures with paperwork telling me to call if I had any questions, but that I was to schedule another endoscopy in 2 months due to gastric ulcers and another diagnosis that needed attention. I called that same afternoon to ask about taking tylenol for a headache and was told I would be called right back. No call. The call came the next day and the "nurse" was very rude. 2 weeks later I received the results of the biopsies and the wording was so confusing I couldn't understand whether my condition was serious or not. I called his office and his nurse said that she thought the wording meant everything was fine and I was to schedule another endoscopy in 3 years! I asked her to double check with the doctor. I received a call from the same nurse the next day saying that the wording was confusing, but that the Dr. said I did have a more serious condition and I needed to have an endoscopy again in 2 months. I TOLD HER I WAS DISGUSTED WITH THE ENTIRE SITUATION AND I WOULD RETURN TO MY PRIOR DOCTOR WHO HAD MOVED FARTHER AWAY. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT. THAT DR. ALWAYS CALLED ME PERSONALLY AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING. I never received a call from Dr. Ancowitz and would not refer anyone to his office.
Dr. Ancowitz is fantastic. Had both endoscopy and colonoscopy with him with no problems.
Wonderful Doctor who really cares for his patients!
I went in for a colonoscopy, came out with pink eye. The staff were very nice and courteous, but apparently unsanitary. I'm OCD when it comes to being sanitary, so this experience was definitely traumatic. Go elsewhere.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
