List of Curtis E. Doberstein's Reviews
Dr.Doberstein is a great surgeon, he saved my husband and repaired his back from past surgery's ,his bedside manor is Fantastic, staff are excellent. I would refer family and friends. His rating to me is a 20+
Dr. Doberstein did my sons surgery when he was diagnosed with moyamoya disease at 9 years old. He progressed so quickly; from ER visit to surgery. It was truly the worst time of my life. Dr. Doberstein was so attentive and patient with us and explained everything with compassion. His follow up visit was great as well and was not awkward with my son. He truly saved my sons life. The secretary at his office though... She's rude. I had called and asked if the covid vaccine was safe for him to get. She then asked me if I was SURE he did my sons surgery? Didn't ask me his name or dob. Only that he's 12. She said, it should be okay I guess. 🤦🏻♀️ I'm just trying to care for my son. Why do I feel like we bother them?
Did my back fusion Awesome job
Everything went well. I don’t think my surgery could have went any better Dr. Doberstein was great and his PA Stephanie Costa. I had no problems office staff was ok and did have me come back to sign a release after an error.
Dr Doberstein and his staff are wonderful! I had a Craniotomy in June of 2017 for a double aneurysm. Dr Doberstein and his staff were so patient and caring with me. I would highly recommend Dr Doberstein.
The Nastiest Secretary on Earth! Vile bitter liar and I'm being kind.
Dr. Dobenstein and his associates are excellent. They are very caring, helpful, and informative. I only trust him with my back.
I can only assume that Doberstein still practices in the same way: recently the Boston Globe has investigated doctors who double book surgeries. One doctor, a whistleblower, was compensated 13m. I never understood my mom’s op notes from 2008 but it appears that Doberstein double books patients for surgery. My mother had complications from the first surgery which required a second surgery. It was very confusing to me once I got a copy of the notes how he could be operating on my mother and talking to me. Given the time frame and the notes, Doberstein doubled booked. I also recommend to any future patients that in your admitting paper work that you write that only Doberstein (or any surgeon) can operate on you. Keep in mind that RI Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with Brown Medical School. Again referring to the op notes it was an intern in my mom’s case. He double books BEWARE. Zero stars to him and his staff.
Dr. D performed spinal surgery on me in 2001. Was in hospital for 12 days, then discharged on a Friday. By Sunday, incision started leaking fluid. Called Dr. D's office Monday am & asked for call back from doctor - no response. Called again Tuesday am, told office incision & leakage even worse; asked for doctor call back by noontime. No response, so called my PCP & was told to come to his office immediately. My PCP looked at me & immediately got me an appointment (same day) with local orthopedic group. Diagnosed with severe infection, culture taken, given antibiotics & told to return following am for probable hospital admission. Finally got call back that evening from Dr. D's physician asst. (not doctor). Was told they couldn't get to me any sooner because they were taking care of emergencies. Told them I had found new doctor to take care of me. In early hours of am I awoke with severe pain & was rushed to local hospital & was in the OR within 2 hours. Was told that if I had waited any longer, infection would have eaten through my spinal cord. I was not able to speak for myself and my husband allowed Dr. D back on my case. Finally went home with PICC line and IV's to treat staph infection. One month later, I went to stand up & found myself on the floor. I could not stand. To make a long story short, I was overdosed on IV Gentamycin, destroying 80% of my vestibular system (balance). Gent not supposed to be given more than 10-12 days. No one bothered to monitor this until 30 days later when I could not walk. I furthersuffered nerve damage from the waist down, chronic pain & high frequency hearing loss. I was forced to retire disabled at 50 years old. Dr. D was too busy with his surgeries to spend proper time to follow up on his existing patients. My life has been destroyed....
Dr. Doberstein saved my life. I was out of hospital in 3 days after brain surgery. He is a GOD to me!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
