Elizabeth Altenhein's Online Review Report Card

Dr Altenhein was my surgeon for breast cancer and skin cancer. She was wonderful. She was professional, compassionate, informative and caring. I have continued to be seen by her every year, for the last 12 years, because of the thorough exam she gives me. I completely trust her with my life. If you are in need of a surgeon choose her. You won’t be disappointed.

I scheduled a consultation for a surgery that I really need for a month in advance. I called two weeks before my consultation was supposed to happen and they didn't have me on the schedule or any of my information when and they told me to disregard my appointment and then tried to make me feel like it was my fault. Absolutely trash company. I will be going to Peter Mazzaglia instead.

After delaying my appointment a week because she had run late with her morning appointments, she performed another ultrasound on me. I already had a separate appointment at another location to have one done, then she delayed the procedure again (I was told the procedure could be done that day). But the most uncomfortable I felt was the fact that before seeing the doctor I heard her loud distinctive voice through the wall on an unfriendly phone call, after which she said to someone "she's going to report me to the DPH" and then laughing. I could also hear every word she said to other patients in next door rooms during their appointments.

Dr. Altenhein saved my life 2 years ago when I had to have emergency surgery. I highly recommend her.

Dr Altenhein is an amazing surgeon. I have had her do a few minor procedures on me as well as a major one. I highly recommend her.

Went to see her for a clean margin surgery after I had a mole removed that came bk A typical. She was great did the procedure right in the office. When I told her I was nervous she assured me I would feel no pain and spoke to me during the procedure to keep me calm. I would recommend her to anyone in need of a general surgeon

She is the best in the business. She did surgery for my thyroid and any concerns were answered and she was helpful and patient and just love her.

If I wanted to feel neglected, I'd move into an orphanage. I don't need some bitter old woman look at me for 2 min and think she knows what's wrong. Awful person even worse doctor

I was seen by Dr.Altenhein at Miriam Hospital in 2002 for severe abdominal pain and vomiting lasting 20 hours.She recommended a gall bladder removal and was displeased when I requested a second opinion from a gastroenterologist.His decision was that I had no GI problem.It took 8 years to finally get diagnosed correctly-it turned out I had an incisional hernia from prior surgery complicated by adhesions and theraputic radiation scarring.I had 8 years of severe pain and it was not something I'd wish on anyone.At least five other doctors failed to diagnose the problem,so it wasn't just Dr.Altenheim.I finally had corrective surgery at the VA where my problem was recognized and terated promptly.I'm sorry to say I would not feel comfortable seeing this doctor again,although that isn't a reflection on her skills.I think she just decided I had a gall bladder problem and that was it.

Amazing! I don't believe there is a better surgeon with more knowledge or skill out there. She treated me with respect, answered all my questions, and cared not just about the cancer but about my quality of life.
