Highly recommend - Dr. Gastel is very professional with a great bedside manner. He was able to relieve a level 10 pain to a level 1 for my daughter's torn meniscus knee injury from competitive cheer. Through PT she is working on customized exercises suggested by Dr. Gastel to assist in her full recovery back to competition level.

I had rt. & lt. total knee replacements at the same time a few years ago by another surgeon & from the beginning my knees were hyper-extending causing me to fall. I went back to the surgeon that performed the replacements who said it was just a matter of strengthening & sent me to PT., then I joined a gym. That didn't help. I've been to other surgeons that were no help, the last one saying I lie, there is no way it was from the start, it was because I had gained weight. Due to the falling I have had major concussions & now deal w/ grand mal seizures. After I dislocated my rt. replacement knee & fractured the petella in the spring, I went to Dr. Gastel; he looked at the mri's & x-rays & said, "This has been going on since you had them done, hasn't it?" Yes! He asked if I knew why & explained that the original surgeon never tightened the ligaments. He took time to explain the surgeries that would correct my knees (which he explained will be much more challenging that having my two knees replaced), asked if I was up to the challenge, was so patient to answer all of my questions & concerns, has been very personable & reassuring at each visit & on the phone. I am scheduled for surgery. He has given me hope that had been diminished in the past. I GIVE DR. GASTEL 5 STARS FOR SEEING WHAT THOSE OTHER SURGEONS DIDN'T HAVE THE INSIGHT NOR THE INTELLIGENCE TO DX THIS. Also the offices are very immaculate, the staff has been very personable and kind also, scheduling (where & when) is very flexible.

Unable to assess patients needs. It's all about corporate benefits and saving insurance money

Dr. Gastel has worked on both of my knees over the course of 20 years. He also was my daughter's surgeon (ACL tear) and cared for my elderly aunt (cortisone shots in her knee.) He is excellent, he has a great bedside manner, listens to patient concerns and welcomes patient input. He is highly skilled and an excellent surgeon. I recommend him without hesitation.

Don't waste your time! He really had no interest in helping me figure out the pain I've been suffering from a fall. He dismissed the idea of any further imaging and stated this was not his speciality. He made no attempt to actually examine my areas if pain. He was so condesending and left feeling mentally worse than when I arrived. Zero compassion...awful doctor.
