Travis M. Cotton's Online Review Report Card

If I could post a "BELOW ZERO" I would due to the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy. I had a surgery with Doctor Cotton and read my pathology report on line idicating "Cancer" was found in thyroid and a lymph node at 6pm at night (it was actually sent to him around 1 in the afternoon), I was mortified that the doctor did not call me, I called immediatly for an explanation and was told by the answering service, after they spokes to Dr. Cotton, he would not discuss anything with me after hours!! I had the most traumatic night. Never called me in the morning, I called the office at 10 a.m. they indicated he was in surgery, well he could have called me at 7 a.m. before starting his day!! I called Boston and they treated me like "GOLD" I sent all my reports to them and they immediatly forwarded my records to the head Endocrinologist/Oncologist. At 4 p.m that day Doctor Cotton called me (almost 24 hours later), his response and explanation was more than deplorable, I asked why would I read my results on my Lifespan he said that was the law and would see me in a week and half and further operate. Well Lifespan said information like that is not to be on the internet per their site and talking to someone there, she would be looking into this. Boston got me right in with 2 appointments the next week and are treating me. STAY AWAY. BAD BAD BAD.

Dr. Cotton is very informative and caring.

Just an overall excellent experience from first visit, through surgery, and follow up. An amazing, attentive, compassionate, highly skilled surgeon who thoroughly explained all treatment options and procedures. RI is lucky to have a physician of Dr Cotton’s caliber. Both his office staff in East Greenwich and Julie in Providence were superb - just “icing on the cake”.

I met with Dr. Travis Cotton three times before thyroid surgery; I'm not the calmest prepatient. His bedside manner displayed confidence, yet at the same time was very reassuring. He was patient with me, answered all of my questions, more than once, and I immediately had trust in my surgeon as did my husband. Upon our initial meeting he greeted me with, "You are here because you need surgery." My retort of "I am here to interview you for my surgery as I need to feel I am in good hands." He chuckled and thought that was a great response and was not at all insulted; I knew then, he was the one for me. Dr. Cotton presents the information in a matter of fact manner, yet, in layman's terms. His entire staff is outstanding, from his intern, Connie, who followed me from one appointment to surgery and post op, her radiant smile, just made me smile! And lest, I forget Dr. Cotton's 'right hand', Julie! She was right on top of things from scheduling to the doctor's notes I needed and was kind to me as she knew how neverous I was! Lastly, I am not someone who would elect to have any surgery, but I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Travis Cotton and his staff to anyone who needs an excellent surgeon!

The best dr I have ever been to

Dr. Cotton has taken great care of me during very stressful times with thyroid cancer. He is compassionate, thorough, knowledgeable, patient, careful, and uses the most up to date surgical techniques. He has performed 2 surgeries on me- both of which went perfectly with easy recovery and no complications. We are lucky to have such a great endocrine surgeon here in Rhode Island- no need to go to Boston for the greatest care! He’s truly a life saver!

I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Cotton and what I can only describe as pure surgical GENIUS. I was 28 years old last year when I was Dx'd with Metastatic PTC and went under his knife 3 times in 5 months. He handled my extremely difficult case with confidence and ease. I had around 40 positive LNs removed and after all was said and done- my cancer was completely resected, NED and to this day I NEVER had to have RAI which is unheard of. Dr. Cotton is simply the best.

Diagnosed with an adrenal tumor 4 years ago. It wouldn’t stop growing. I had many blood tests, CT scans, MRIs. The fear of not knowing why it was changing and the future schedule of tests was causing great anxiety and stress. I was referred to Dr. Cotton and made the decision to have the 4cm tumor removed laparoscopically. Dr. Cotton was informative, attentive, the surgery was flawless, my recovery was easier than I had thought. Back to being a Dad of two young boys without the stress. TY!
