Umberto Capuano's Online Review Report Card

If you have a fibroadenoma at a young age and want to get it taken out, don't see this doctor. He seemed like I was wasting his time. I went in knowing I wanted to get it removed and let him know, but he was talking to me as if trying to get me to not bother talking it out. Didn't bother telling me ANY future complications if I wanted to keep it (i.e. issues with breast feeding, which as a woman in my 20s, is VERY IMPORTANT TO BE TOLD). He commented on the fact that I "have very loose tissue for a woman your age," and when I told him it was because I was severely depressed, binge are, gained 70lbs in 7 months, then lost it, he disregarded that and said that I might have an issue with my thyroid since I have no GI problems (the weight gain was 4 years ago, no problems since). Only saving grace was his female i assistant who was very kind and understanding. I will not return. Go to Dr. Christian in Westerly.

This was fine, because when he speaks he gets right to the point. He answered all my sons questions honestly and spoke sincerely about his medical concerns. His assistant Laurie, was a comforting presence. Had absolute confidence in him. Most amazingly surgeon.

I only imagine that many of these 5 star reviews are self written, or reviewed by friendly colleagues. These reviews should be verified for accuracy. Dr. Capuano dramatically departed from the standard duty of medical care. He needs immediate training in empathy. If he were more cooperative and less dogmatic, our outcome may have been different. RIP MOM

Unfortunately my mother insisted on being close to home when battling a very aggressive cancer. We, her children, wanted her in more knowledgeable hands, closer to our home, Sloan. While overall my mother was satisfied with her care, she was not happy, nor were we, with her “care” while under the watch of Capuano. Doctors are supposed to be in the line of work of helping people. With this profession comes a lot of responsibility. The medical field is not supposed to be simply diagnosing a problem, handing out a few pills, and moving onto the next patient. It means much more. It means being a physician, and a physician means being a healer. My mother’s last visit to the South County ER before her death was unpleasant at best. Capuano lacked a bedside manner and a connection with my mom. She knew she was dying, she didn’t need a dr who could care less. Shame on you. I trust is karma and I’m certain karma will work it’s magic.

Dr Capuano is the BEST! He saved my life in 2013 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. He LISTENS to his patients AND let's the patient help chose the course of action. I am DEVASTATED that I may have to find another surgeon due to health insurance. (Why is it we can bring our cars to mechanics that WE WANT but we cannot take ourselves to Dr's of choice) Dr Capuano has MIGHTY BIG SHOES THAT NO OTHER CAN FILL!

I first met Dr Capuano back in 2015, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the past 3 years, he has become my go-to for practical, well informed medical advice. He goes to bat for me, when other Drs are pushing too hard. He actually saved my life one night, in the ER, with an emergency surgery. I trust this man completely, and am so grateful to have found him!!

Dr Capuano was an excellent doctor and told me that I didn't need any surgery that I was referred for.

Dr. Capuano is an excellent doctor!!! He is professional, accommodating, and he has a wealth of knowledge. He explained the journey ahead and listened to my questions and answered them so I could understand the answers. I always left his office knowing what was coming next. Laurie is very compassionate, caring, professional, and uplifting. Dr. Capuano and Laurie make a great medical team. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you for all you have done for me.

Dr Capuano is the best! He is professional, knowledgeable, and you always walk out of his office feeling like you have heard best, worst case scenarios and everything in between. He saved my life, and would never go to anyone else.
