Dr. Ettekal was my doctor for years in CA. I've always dreaded going to the doctor because I've had a lot of bad experiences with insensitive medical providers. Dr. Ettekal always treated me with respect and care. He also really coordinated with some of my other providers, which was really helpful. I felt like he trusted that I knew myself well enough that when I told him what was going on and what I might need he actually listened and worked with me rather than just dismissing me. I got diagnosed with a very serious life threatening condition and had big decisions to make and he spent a lot of time talking me through it and showing his concern. I actually cried when I had my last appointment with him and said goodbye. He was my favorite. The only time I was less than happy was when I requested a specific test and he refused to order it and months later I finally did find a doctor who ordered it for me and it revealed a medical condition I hadn't been aware of before but suspected.
