I have been going to Dr. Smith for at least 40 + years. I have always been impressed with his knowledge and his up to date information on different diagnosis of my eyes. Thank you for your service to others and I wish you a wonderful retirement.

Dr. Smith did my cataract surgery's. He was very informative, professional, and personable. He and the staff made me feel at ease during every step of the process.
After cataract surgery, with $1500 extra for lens. My vision was worse. After several appointments and hundreds of dollars in medication, I was told I need Laser surgery. I ask to be scheduled right away because my deductible had been met. I was told " no need, as long as it has been less then 90 days, your covered". Today I receive a call requiring that I pay the 1500 deductible in advance. when ask why I was told different, I was told "You are covered.... as soon as you pay your deductible.
I can't speak for others, but I couldn't be happier with Dr. Dan and the great job he did for me. It gets better/worse - my wife is thoroughly pleased. Although a 'big guy' , he has great finesse and manual dexterity. He could work on prenatal infants. Healing was rapid, and practically painless. Entire staff very professional.
Not a thorough exam when I thought my retina was detaching. He told me to deal with the flashing lights and haze in my eye. I had an untreated retinal tear as a result of his misdiagnosis and lackadaisical attitude.
At first Dr. Smith seemed abrupt and non-caring... but that all changed. Upon laying in pre-op for cataract surgery, Dr. Smith came in and talked to me about any concerns and dilated my eye. The day after surgery I saw Dr. Smith, and he was okay, but rushed. A week later I was having some complications in my eye that had surgery. At this point, Dr. Smith started to be more caring, and concerned. A few weeks went by, and I developed inflammation in my eye. It was on a weekend and I called the answering service. Within 15 minutes, Dr. Smith called me back - gave me an increase in some RX drops and told me to just 'show up' first thing on Monday morning when the office opened. I was there at 8AM, and he saw me first! I just had my follow-up visit with Dr. Smith (a week later)...all is well and we scheduled my other eye for cataract surgery. Dr. Smith turned out to be a wonderful, caring doctor who 'knows what he is doing' and now, after all this, I have all the faith in the world for him to be my eye doctor. The surgerical staff is wonderful - the everyday staff is rushed, but fine. The supervisor in the accounting office is curt, rude & abrupt - but she doesn't have anything to do with my eye surgery, so I just don't interact with her anymore.
Being in the dental field, my eyes are very important. I trust Dr. Smith to keep my eyes healthy.
Spent very little time with me. Always seems rushed. Explanations not clear. Assumes you know more about procedures than you do. Too quick to dismiss concerns. Lacks empathy.
Was told I needed cataract surgery on both eyes and would no longer need glasses. After surgery was told still needed glasses because I had a stigmatism and that could be treated with another operation and an additional charge. When asked why it was not done during the cataract surgery I was told "we did not see it then"????? Also was told that the glasses I now needed would cost $XXX.xx and insurance would not pay for it. Found out later that insurance would pay for first glasses after cataract surgery???? ($$$$$). The only thing I accomplished with this was to end up with a different pair of glasses that I had to pay for.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
