Building is a little old and you can tell it was built in the 80s/90s.I had no issues with the new staff. I had a visit with Dr. Rogers and his bedside manner was affable and he was good at explaining prescribed treatments and was attentive to my needs. Leaving the review at 4 stars because they don't call in prescriptions, which I found a bit weird.Photos included are of outside, waiting room, and exam room.
I just recently tried to make an appointment today and I was denied. Not sure why? The receptionist were not helpful. I saw Dr. Cook had 5 stars so I would have been willing to wait if needed, but I was denied by both Receptionist. The Receptionist Jackie did not give me the next available date after I asked and she then hung up. I was surprised by her hanging up but still I can’t remember a time when I called to make an appointment and the receptionist didn’t TRY to make an appointment for the patient. I called back and spoke with Receptionist Charlotte and I explained what happened. Charlotte still would not attempt to schedule a appointment for me. Charlotte stated with unprofessional and sarcastic tone “I’m not sure why she did that, I will let her know.” In both occasions they did not try to make me an appointment.
I tried to schedule an appointment today and the receptionist asked all my insurance info and put me on hold to check with the doctor only to tell me that because I have the ppob plan they can’t accept me even though they’re in the network with my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and when I asked her for the explanation she blatantly lied and said she doesn’t know. It seemed very suspicious to me so I called the insurance and had them check the reason why they declined me. The insurance representative called their office and the doctor straightforwardly told him that it’s because he doesn’t wanna deal with all the documentation filling for that plan. They called me back from the insurance apologizing and they filed a complaint against him. This really showed me all I needed to know and now I’m glad I avoided this doctor and I hope that all his current and future patients don’t end up having something serious unchecked because this doctor couldn’t be bothered. Shame on him and his staff!
Dr Cook has been my dermatologist for over 12 years... best in Aiken!!
super nice! very knowledgeable
I didn't have any issues present but I went to him to establish a dermatologist. I was put in an exam room and he told me unless I had a problem not to worry. I had to ask him if he could look me over, reluctantly he did and found nothing out. A year later I have an issue. I call on a Thurs. leave a message they were closed but didn't put it on their recording, I call back on Mon. and cant been seen till 4 weeks later because of holiday closures. The lady told me to go to Urgent Care.
Dr Cook is great but the office staff is difficult to deal with. Answering machine usually picks up the phone and calls are not returned in a timely manner. Even our case worker with DOE commented this was the most difficult office they had ever dealt with.
Worked for him 20 yrs ago., great guy.
Dr Cook has never been anything but helpful. He has diagnosed a variety of conditions I have and treated them successfully. He has performed 2 biopsies on my face and you could never tell they had been done. The staff is always courteous and helpful and reminders of appointments are always sent in advance.
I don't think that Dr. Cook really wanted to treat my child once we arrived at the office and he and his staff realized that we are black. Dr. Cook acted as if my 5 year old was a leper. She suffers from eczema, but it is a very mild case with an irritated spot on her wrist! The staff would not return my calls after that first visit, nor did they contact me as a courtesy for the follow-up visit that was schedule for 3 months later. After the treatment received, I wasn't returning anyway!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
