She is a Very nice South Carolina lady Doctor. I still take 40 mg of paroxetine. Thank you for helping me 30 years ago.

DR. SMITH YOU NEED TO CALL ME

Overmedicated me and put me on wrong medicines. Suffered a bad episode because of this.

Dr Martha Smith is so nice. She is very intelligent. I liked her very well and if we were friends outside of the clinical area that would be perfect. But she really just wanted to prescribe me a medication and that's it - I have severe chronic, complex PTSD - not from a one-incident occurrence but from long term, multifaceted happenings... I was cautioned STRONGLY (by the dim secretaries at UNCC health clinic - where I saw Dr Smith) not to be late - and in the ICE STORM I drove up and was an HOUR EARLY - however on the way, the Dim Secretary called me and said, "oh, too bad for you, Dr Smith is going to be delayed a few hours because of the snow..." Dr Smith is very kind, understanding, smart - again: I liked her very well - but I need serious, expedient, intense psychiatric and psychological and emotional and social support. She's a lovely person. Just didn't work for me.

I saw Dr. Smith a total of three times over less than two months. She was either uninformed or didn't care about side effects and how much the drugs would cost out of pocket, even though I was clear in saying that my very high deductible insurance wouldn't cover anything and I couldn't afford hundreds of dollars per month on Rx. She charged me $275 initial visit and then when I had a complete meltdown three days later she had me come in to prescribe different medication and charged me $150 for less than 15 minutes of time. The drug she prescribed this time caused rapid weight gain so I asked her to switch me to something different in my next appointment, when she again prescribed a drug that cost me over $700 per month. After calling her to ask for an alternative or her advice on whether or not I should proceed with the few sample packs she gave I never heard back. I called again two weeks later and no response to this day. I find her completely unprofessional and unreliable.

I have been seeing dr smith for almost 3 years and she is weening me off cymbalta. The method she gave me is not working. I called 2 weeks ago to ask questions because the method she gave me isn't working and I have not heard back from her in 2 weeks. For all she knows I could have been having suicidal thoughts. I am not happy at all and I'm still on the medication. I should have been off 2 weeks ago.

A week and a half ago, I made a refill request with my pharmacy. Pharmacy received no response after 3 attempts. I called the Dr's office, and only after a second call, did I recieve a response, a day or two later (9 days after initial pharmacy call in to the Dr). The pharmacy said this is the case with all her patients. They suggested switching to a different Dr who might be better. I am not sure whether I will switch Dr's. I prefer to stay with someone who knows me, but this lack of communication is no good. Perhaps her workload is too great, and is serving too many patients.

I have been seeing Dr. Smith for 2 years. I am content with my progress. She does not have office staff and seldom returns phone calls. I have only needed to speak to her twice but both times it was rather important, that is the only negative

Dr. Smith is a nice person, but I did not feel comfortable with her expertise of medications. She does not explain why she prescribes specific medicines or why certain side effects occur. She talks in general about scientific studies, but doesn't know/research the details. She also will keep you waiting.

Dr. Martha Smith has been the most helpful psychiatrist I've ever had. In my experience she gives you real information not the BS they tell you in medical school. I find her "unprofessional" qualities to be very encouraging and they allowed me to trust her more easily. She has on SEVERAL occasions gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me through rough times. I admit she's not always on time, but this is because she takes the time and energy to listen and help sort out the lives of her patients.
