My daughter's primary doctor has been sending her to every specialit in SC, and none of them, for almost 2 years, could tell her why she was in pain & couldn't walk or stand for long periods of time. They started telling her she was psychotic, and its anxiety. She has scoliosis & all specialists & primary knew this, but none of them looked into it more. After many nights of crying, yelling, and not knowing if we should keep going to the hospital, or keep calling the Dr, who keeps telling you its in your head, we took it amongst ourselves, and made an appointment with Dr. Nivens, and he had answers for her, he took the time to listen to her & examine her, now she can work on getting some kind of comfort & some kind of relief without being told she's psychotic & it will pass. I just want to take this time to thank Dr. Nivens for taking this time with her & her feeling so much better knowing someone knows she is having these issues & is going to help her. 5 STARS DOES NOT REFLECT THE PRO THIS DR RATES. I HAVE BEEN IN PAIN WITH LOWER BACK ISSUES FOR OVER A YEAR, MRI REVEALED 5 BULGING LUMBAR DISCS . DR NIVENS EVALUATED SITUATION DECIDED SURGERY WAS NOT THE ANSWER, ADMINISTERED A STEROID SHOT AND I AM WITHOUT PAIN AND FUNCTIONING LIKE I DID YEARS AGO. THANK YOU DR FOR GIVING ME A PAIN FREE LIFE AGAIN.

Outstanding performance from the best spine surgeon in SC. I had the Mild procedure dealing with stenosis. By the time I decided to get the procedure, I couldn’t play golf and eventually couldn’t even walk well. Almost immediately following the surgery, I felt better, balanced myself again and could tie my shoes without pain. Now, 4 weeks later, I feel amazing, I’m playing golf again and taking longer walks with my wife! Thank you Dr Nivens!

In my opinion, Dr. Nivens is an excellent doctor. I have been plagued with spinal pain for many years and I needed relief and begin looking into pain management. My first visit with him was about 15 years ago. My second visit was in 2016. My third visit began two weeks ago. During all visits Dr. Nivens has been competent and caring. He takes the time to listen and explain. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Nivens before more invasive measures.

I was seeing Dr.Nivens for almost a yr now. He was treating me with hydrocodone for a period of time which is the only thing that gave me comfort. We tried epidural shots didn't take. Now I need a refill and SAID NO. Without any reason. Called num of time's just for an answer why. NOT A RETURN PHONE CALL. Witch I think is very unperftional. Now I have to go through his insurance fraud game to see him a 2 week wait for a possible prescription. Could careless.

Dr. Nivens has done a great job in the past, but after my visit with his assistant I would not recommend this practice.

Dr. Nivens call Christina great job in the past, but he recently hired a new assistant. Based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend This practice now.

I have found Dr. Nivens and his staff to be outstanding professionals. I previously went to Chatham orthopedic and was pleased with their help, but Dr. Nivens has provided better care. Not only is Nivens a good doctor, but his staff is outstanding as well. Always very professional, very prompt and very courteous. I only wish I had found him sooner.

I have had 3 previous spinal fusions due to rear end auto collision. I have lived in various stages of agony, manageable pain and sometimes short term no pain. I have previously had more epidurals and physical therapy, all promising relief, but mainly resulting in more useless drugs and ultimately surgery. Dr. Nivens’ approach is to look at the mechanics of what is causing the pain, and the most conservatively aggressive approach to achieve a long lasting positive outcome. Dr. Nivens didn’t just push the latest band aid fix, he explained what I should do to help my spine heal, not just treat the pain with pills. Thank you Dr. Nivens for treating me and not just my symptoms. It’s taken some time to heal properly, but your approach as a physiatrist has allowed me to Again walk without excruciating pain.
